The work of Konstantin Gorbunov is a perfect example of how a talented artist delicately feels the soul of a person and nature.

short biography

Born Konstantin Yuryevich in the family of the artist Yu. V. Gorbunov November 25, 1967. Kostroma is his hometown. Already in his childhood, his favorite toys were a pencil and a brush, the artist recalled. In the kindergarten he had a friend who also loved drawing. They were called "tassel" and "pencil".

Father gave him a little sketchbook, almost like a real one. He carried it with him always, throwing a long strap over his shoulder. In the workshop of his father Constantine could spend hours and draw, draw, draw. In those years he worked with pencils and gouache.

Konstantin studied at the Kostroma Art School. In 1983, Gorbunov Constantine entered the Art College in Yaroslavl. After school for two years, from 1987 to 1989, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army.

Constantine decided to continue his education at the Academy of Painting, where he entered in 1991. He perfectly remembered his first meeting with I. S. Glazunov, who before the entrance exams looked at the work of the entrants and decided whether to admit to admission or not, after which he approached Constantine and noted his recent fieldwork. Defended the artist's diploma work "Portrait of Sergei Rachmaninov."

The artist's path

The creative activity of Konstantin Yurievich began with participation in exhibitions held in his native city. He linked his work with the Kostroma land, with his native nature and the history of his land.

More than twenty-five years Constantine is engaged in creative activity, participates in collective and personal exhibitions. In recent years, the artist has created many paintings related to the history of his native land, covered several Russian regions and guardian cities of unique monuments of history and culture. They reflect the amazing beauty of the nature of the Russian outback, temples and monasteries.

The artist Gorbunov pays much attention to painting from nature, draws inspiration from the surrounding nature. Since childhood, watching his father's works, Constantine sees beauty in the picturesque rocks of the Mediterranean, and on the banks of the Volga, in the old streets and shopping streets, in the golden domes of monasteries and temples.

Favorite places of the artist - Kostroma remote and the suburbs. With etudnikom he does not leave and during travel. Konstantin Gorbunov visited him in India and Montenegro, Greece and Croatia.

His works of the cycles "Kostroma historical" and "Kostroma land" were presented in more than twenty collective exhibitions held in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Gorbunov was awarded a bronze medal for his contribution to the Russian culture following the results of the Moscow 2008 exhibition. The Cultural Heritage Foundation noted his diploma for participation in the open-air "Montenegro 2008".

In 2008, for his works dedicated to his native land, his history and nature, the artist was awarded the Order of Labor Valor. From the historical series dedicated to his native land, the artist performed several works specifically for the fund "400 anniversary of the House of Romanovs".

On the anniversary of his native Kostroma region in 2009, Gorbunov created a whole gallery of portraits of the ruling personalities of his native land. To design the administration of the region the artist used a multi-figure picture of "Kostroma - the cradle of the Romanovs".

Konstantin Yuryevich Gorbunov wrote more than a hundred graphic works and more than two hundred paintings. Brushes of the artist belong:

• Series of portraits "Roads of War", "Destiny" and "Portraits of Contemporaries";
• A series of landscapes "The Image of the Northern Capital", "Croatia", "Streets of Novgorod", "Moscow Region", "Moscow Modern";
• Series of paintings "The image of childhood", "Birdyard", "Waltz of Flowers";
• Landscape cycles in Montenegro and Greece.

As the artist himself says, he is interested not only in the landscape itself, but in the world inhabited by man - a house, a warm light, a covered table, children, ordinary things warmed by the warmth of the human soul. Gorbunov writes portraits of not only famous contemporaries, but also those with whom he lives in the neighborhood - acquaintances, passers-by. Strives not only to truly display the person, but also to understand his inner world.

Portraits created by the master

Studying in a portrait studio within the walls of his own academy, where Gorbunov Constantine was engaged since 1994, also did not go in vain. Despite the fact that by this time Constantine had enough experience in the technique of drawing and painting, here he received a unique knowledge.

Gorbunov devoted much time to the manner of painting of old masters. He often visited the halls of the Hermitage and the Tretyakov Gallery to comprehend the unsurpassed technique of the classics of the landscape and portrait. Constantly improving, Constantine worked out the knowledge and skills.

Gorbunov painted portraits of his contemporaries: R. Kadyrov and V. Putin, V. Vasiliev and A. Zinoviev, portraits of the patriarchs Cyril and Alexy II. These works were included in the series "Destiny". The artist created a series of paintings known in the history of personalities: Yu Dolgoruky and A. Suvorov, M. Romanov and Nicholas I, Catherine II and Nicholas II.

Charming painting

Gorbunov Constantine worked on monumental paintings in the churches of Seraphim of Sarov and Christ the Savior, in the New Jerusalem Monastery and in the Assumption Cathedral. Working with the teams of artists, he gained valuable experience, as the painter himself thinks.

His fascination with artistic painting prompted the artist's interest in the embodiment of creative ideas in private projects. In Gorbunov's portfolio there are wonderful works of decoration of walls and ceilings:

• "Great Light Hunt", representing the composition of hunting for a boar and a deer. This magnificent painting decorates the ceiling of the country mansion.
• The landscape of "Pines under snow", executed in the oriental style, is reserved, refined, inclined to search for harmony.
• The plafond "Flowers" above the spiral staircase, involuntarily forcing to see the blue sky. But butterflies fluttered from each other in different colors. From the grass covered with droplets of dew, peep birds.

Gorbunov really tries to see the inner world, but not only man. Under the artist's brush, the whole depth of nature is revealed. Konstantin Yurievich in his painting "Irises" managed to convey the entire tenderness of this flower, the lightness and joy of spring, the sensitivity and touchingness of spring flowers - a magnificent picture.

The landscape performed by Gorbunov is something special. Under his brush, nature revives, she whispers the leaves of the trees, murmurs overflows of rivers, plays with the golden rays of the sun. The painter's brush conveys the elusive breath of nature. Gorbunov masterfully applies this in artistic painting. Gorbunov's work "Waltz of Flowers" is fascinating. Flowers on the wall come alive and like dancing, whirling in a waltz. The gentle pastel colors of the painting possess simultaneously some invisible force. Konstantin Yuryevich is now transferring his knowledge to his students at the Faculty of Painting in his native academy, where he was invited to teach academic disciplines in 1999. Behind the walls of the Academy holds exhibitions, master classes, plein air.

Since 2006, Gorbunov Konstantin - Associate Professor of the Department of Academic Drawing. He works there to the present, sharing his experience with students who continue the tradition of realistic painting in contemporary art.
