A cage is a cage or part of a hut?

A cage is a cold part of a log hut that was ready for use right after the roof was made. The cage was used as a bedroom in the summer period, as the floors in it were earthy, and the room did not have time to warm up during the day. And in the winter, the cold part served as a kind of refrigerator, in which perishables, grain and unnecessary things were stored.

But, in addition to the main one, there is more than one meaning of the word "cage". This term is used in mining, as well as in metallurgy. He entered the workers' life so tightly that it is impossible to imagine if a different name was used instead.

In metallurgy, a crate is a special device that helps automate the work of a rolling mill and the production of a certain type of product. In different industries, the rolling stand can have various modifications.

The main task of this cage is to compress the rolled metal by means of rollers of different sizes (compact, flatten) the rolled metal and use the rotating bearings to redirect the movement of the finished product to the desired side for the next production stage.

Firms engaged in the production of metallurgical stands offer many of their types for different stages of rolled metal. The main task of such devices: resistance to loads, easy access to all the details in case of breakdown, automation of the entire process.

Mining

The concept of "stand" is also used in mining. In the mines, the crate is a special device used by miners to raise coal, ore and other minerals to the surface.

Until the end of the eighteenth century in mines, the elevation of the worked material was carried out manually or by means of a winch. Tazes were filled with shovels, and then raised to the surface. With the advent of electricity, everything changed, and instead of people or horses, the cages were raised using a special mechanism.

In the mines three types of stands are used: cargo, cargo and passenger. Depending on the type, they also have additional functions. So the passenger stands are closed from all sides, so that in case of an emergency passengers are not injured.

But freight stands are tipping and not tipping, depending on the production. With the help of tilting crates of the mine, in which the extraction of minerals is carried out round the clock, can shorten the time for the delivery and shipment of materials.

Arabs and cages

Some sources say that "cage" is a translation from the Greek words "hut", "tent". But this is not the only way to use this word. Most tend to the fact that the cage Arabs called the cage for animals.

In addition, this is how the Polish word sounds, meaning a cage for birds. Many words similar in sound in other languages, most often mean a closet, a barn, a storage room, a hut, a covered room or even a pack saddle. But most of the languages in which the word "cage" occurs in different variations are Slavic.
