Zamyatin, "We". The summary of the work

Anti-utopia is a very special genre of literature. On the one hand, this is a description of a world that simply can not exist: a world of cruel intolerance towards the manifestation of human individuality. On the other hand, ordinary life without any fantastic elements, only on paper. And from such a similarity to our reality with you, it sometimes becomes a little scary ...

This is the novel that Russian writer Yevgeny Zamyatin wrote, "We". He was the first who created this kind of work. The great Aldous Huxley, along with George Orwell, became his followers.

Zamyatin, "We". The summary of the work

The novel is written in the form of a diary, which is conducted by a citizen of the United State. His name is D-503. More precisely, this is his "number." There are no names here, because even they can influence the formation of personality, which is so blamed by the Benefactor, the all-powerful and all-knowing ruler.

From the first diary entries we learn about the structure of life in the United State. Everyone here wears the same clothes - Unif, and only their color identifies the floor. On each his number is written. In fact, the people who live here and citizens are not: everyone calls each other like numbers.

It is worth noting that Zamyatin wrote "We", a brief summary of which we are now considering, in 1920. Since the novel clearly traces the parallel with the Soviet reality, the book, naturally, during the life of the writer in our country is not published.

Further, we learn that the D-503 is one of the talented scientists, a great mathematician who, like many other inhabitants of the United State, is working on the creation of INTEGRAL, a spacecraft that will have to go with the crew to explore distant planets in the near future. Zamyatin wrote "We", the brief content of which you are now reading, so that it is impossible not to believe in the terrifying future of the world. The Single State is fenced off by the Green Wall, behind which there live the so-called savages - the people who remained there after the Great Bicentennial War.

Everyone here has the opportunity to have sex with any other number of the opposite sex - you just need to take a special pink coupon. Most often, the D-503 meets with O-90 - a low, gorgeous girl. The main character lives on - according to the schedule, regulated by the Sentinel Tablet, until I-330 meets a revolutionary who, together with some other inhabitants of the United State, is going to blow up the Green Wall to break free. At first, the D-503 considers this nonsense, and the woman finds it terribly unpleasant. However, gradually, unexpectedly for him, it shows a feeling for the I-330, which he never experienced before - love.

How did Zamyatin finish the "We", the brief content of which we have almost finished reading? D-503 together I-330 and with other revolutionaries have achieved what they wanted. The wall was blown up, the numbers for the first time in a long time saw the savages, in the United State came chaos. Some managed to escape - there, to freedom. However, all those who were detained (among them - and the protagonist) are subjected to the Great Operation, which deprives imagination. Those who were the main organizers of the explosion, including the I-330, are executed with the help of the Gas Bell.

You just read the summary "We". Zamyatin put all his soul into this work, and therefore it is absolutely necessary to get acquainted with it entirely in any case.
