Childhood and youth

Yuri Tsaler was born on May 22, 1973 in a maternity hospital in Pervouralsk, a small town in the Sverdlovsk region. The boy's parents decided to give him to play piano at the music school. Tchaikovsky, although Yuri himself had no special desire for this. In one of his interviews, the musician with a smile recalled that when he left school, one of the teachers of the music school told him: "What a happiness, Yuri, that you finally stop playing music!"

After that, Yuri tried to get a job, but nowhere else did he stay long. For example, I worked at a bread-baking plant as a simple baker. The future star of Mumiy Troll could only last one shift, after which he resigned.

In the senior classes, such cult collectives as "DDT" and "Alisa" had a serious influence on Tsaler. This led to the fact that Yuri started playing the guitar and was carried away by rock and roll.

The beginning of the creative path

Since he could not find a suitable job for himself, Zaler decided with his father (a well-known jazzman saxophonist) and his younger brother to perform in one of the most popular establishments in the city in which the criminal elite liked to rest. This kind of family music band was called "The Younger Group of Optimists". This unusual name is due to the fact that the elder Tsaler played in the group "Optimists".

After some time, at the beginning of the difficult 90-ies, Yuri collects his own group "Bird Zu". Demo recording of the new band was sent to the contest of young performers. She accidentally fell in with Peter Mamonov, who, after listening to her, was delighted. He immediately contacted Zahler and offered the young band their own recording studio to work on the debut album, but unfortunately the case did not go beyond oral agreements.

"Bird Zu" was able to record one magnetoalbum, which became quite popular at the local level, but soon one of the band members died suddenly. This tragic event was the impetus for the disintegration of the collective. After a short hesitation, Tsaler decides to continue his career in Moscow.

Yuri Tsaler in the group "Mumiy Troll"

Having mastered the capital, Tsaler quickly gained the reputation of a talented performer, so it is not surprising that it was to him in the fall of 1997 that Ilya Kormiltsev applied to join the newly established Mumiy Troll group. Yuri responded to the proposal and took the place of solo guitarist in the team.

As the musician himself recalls, at first he had a very hard time - an unusually busy schedule of tours and tours for him. A few months later, Zahler even began to think about leaving the group, but still managed to overcome himself and gradually get used to the new mode of work. After a while became an integral part of the team Yuri Tsaler. Mumiy Troll is associated with many people precisely with him.

Zahler's career was rapidly rising. To him began to apply for soundtracks to films known Russian directors. So, in 2004 Yuri together with the frontman of "Mumiy Troll" Ilya Lagutenko wrote songs for the film "The Book Thieves", and in 2008 created the musical series for the film "Say Leo".

Unfortunately, this led to a misunderstanding within the team. Lagutenko was dissatisfied with the work of Zahler in outside projects and his excessive independence, so Yuri Tsaler left the group "Mumiy Troll" during one of the tour tours in 2013. He gave him 16 years of his life.

Zemfira and "Shizgar"

Tsaler at the dawn of his performances in "Mumiy Troll" began to help Russian rock star Zemfira during studio recordings. It was Yuri who sang several guitar parts in 4 albums of the cult singer. In the late 2000's, Yuri also helped in the recording of a solo album by Tatyana Zykina.

As it was mentioned above, this activity of Tsaler became the main reason for his conflict with Lagutenko and the withdrawal from the Mummies of the Troll.

In 2013, 4 famous musicians, including Yuri, decided to organize a cover band "Shizgar". The main occupation of the new band was to give a new sound to the most famous hits of the second half of the 20th century. As part of this group, Tsaler continues to perform, although he does not forget about his old friends: in the summer of 2015, the guitarist gave several joint concerts with Zemfira.
