Yekaterinburg circus: program, reviews

In the heart of Ekaterinburg is a grand building, topped with an openwork hanging dome. This is the famous Yekaterinburg Circus, where since 1980 there have been tremendous programs. The construction of this structure is considered the best in Europe.

Circus location

In the center of the Leninsky district, where the streets of Kuibyshev and 8 March intersect, the building of the circus rises above the western coast of Iset. Near to it there is a metro station "Geologicheskaya" and an unfinished television tower, resembling the shape of a chess queen. It adjoins the arboretum "Green Grove" and the SEC "Greenwich".

The Ekaterinburg Circus is also bordered by the Yunost Stadium, Novo-Tikhvinsky Women's Monastery. From him to Plotinka and the main city square in 1905 - the Ural Arbat - only 15 minutes of unhurried course. A magnificent view of the circus building opens from the observation platform of the Urals metropolis Meteorological Hills, located on Bazhova Street.

History of the circus in Yekaterinburg

The building of the first stationary circus was erected in 1933 according to the design of the designer K. Bezukhov on the site that occupied the corner of the streets of Rosa Luxemburg and Kuibyshev. It lasted a little more than 40 years. In 1976, a structure built of wood burned down. The grand entrance of the old circus was on Kuibyshev Street.

With the assistance of two directors, a new Yekaterinburg circus was built. Ekaterinburg as a result of close and fruitful cooperation of experienced circus figures, architects, designers and engineers received a unique construction. The team of designers and builders took into account the remarks of the directors (former and future) - NI Slautin and F.F. Leisinger.

Thanks to Feliks Feliksovich, who knew the specifics of such buildings while working in the Nizhnetagilsky circus, over 160 valuable corrections were made to the project. The project of the building was created by the architects Yu. L. Shvartsbrime and MF Korobov, the designers EP Peskov and RM Ivanova, the engineer Nikitin.

The new circus opened the doors for spectators on 01.02.80. He was given the name of the legendary trainer V.I. Filatova. Since 1996, it has become a venue for traditional regional, all-Russian and international festivals. In 2012 the institution became the laureate of the Russian award in the field of circus art "Sharivari". The prize was established by the Rosgoscirk and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Architecture and interior decoration of the circus

A bright distinctive feature of the architecture of the circus in Yekaterinburg is the dome, made in the form of a huge trellised carved structure, formed by powerful half-arches. The outer dome rises 50 meters high. The height of the inner dome is 26 meters. Thanks to the considerable height and outlines of the dome in the building, excellent acoustics.

The structural features of the structure make it possible to conduct the most complicated representations in it. Premises in the building are decorated with a Ural stone. The hall can seat 2558 spectators. Ekaterinburg circus is equipped with two arenas. In one, there are rehearsals, in the other they give performances. In the buffet they sell baked goods, sandwiches, sweet cotton wool, popcorn and various drinks.

The Museum

There is a unique circus museum in the institution. This is the only such museum in the world. In his halls you can take relics in your hands. The exposition tells about the history of the institution and circus art. There, in front of visitors, the wings are opened, a place where miracles are performed.

Each program of the Yekaterinburg Circus is full of vivid performances by non-ordinary artists. In the arena, the trainers give amazing performances with their pets. Under the dome, the equilibrists and acrobats leap, hitting spectators with incredible tricks. Fun and clowns add funny clowns. Tickets

Tickets cost from 300 to 1000 rubles are freely sold at the ticket offices of the building. Children under 5 years of age are allowed to enter performances for free. The management of the circus is engaged in charity. Children-orphans, inmates of boarding schools, invalids, pensioners and members of low-income families are provided with free or reduced-price tickets. Shares for them are held once a month.

The spectators are constantly admired by every performance given by the Yekaterinburg Circus. Reviews about it are delicious. With all this, they sadly note that the interior of the establishment with a strong troupe and famous tour artists is not ideal, the premises require reconstruction and renovation of the interiors.
