Why in Russia expensive roads: a phantom economy on quality

Why are expensive roads in Russia , in general, every citizen knows. After all, this disaster, it was famous since the tsarist times. This could be called a prejudiced opinion and show in the direction of other countries - they say, there is no better. But this is not so. Perhaps, the reasons for this lie still in historical prejudices. For example, in Germany they thought that good roads reduce the profit of roadside merchants. Our kings perceived them as ways to invade enemies. And modern officials all lead to the fact that roads are built less, doing everything to increase their value.

But if you turn to the opinions of experts, today there are a number of reasons why in Russia expensive roads, most of which are difficult to call objectively developed. Everything in the system of their construction leads to the fact that they are made at first poorly, and then systematically spend money on patches and patching. Firstly, this is the later holding of tenders, which leads to the fact that asphalt begins to lay almost at the end of the summer - in the fall, often violating technology. Secondly, controversial firms that do not have a good material base are being asked for contests. They first underestimate the cost of building a road, they cut off trustworthy firms, and then resell the order to subcontractors for even less money. And those, in turn, save on quality. The third reason why expensive roads are in Russia, it should be called almost unrealistic terms in contracts. The fourth is weak control by the supervisory authorities. And, finally, the last one - there is no monitoring of the fulfillment of the guarantee obligations, and, therefore, many defects are eliminated at the expense of the state.

Having considered the reasons why expensive roads are in Russia, it can be stated with certainty that the groundless reduction in the cost of building and overhauling the canvas (in terms of direct technological costs), combined with the irresponsibility of officials and the thirst for contractors' profit, is the reason for constant alterations and increase in value.

Moreover, as experts say, most of what is saved on materials and quality of work is spent on the corruption component, which today is unofficially laid in the cost of a kilometer of the road. At the same time, people who lobby the interests of a corrupt official-contractor bunch are starting to invent various reasons, such as the one that we have more land than in Europe. True, they often miss a number of important conditions that need to be taken into account. Even at equal cost (which is rare), Russian roads are worse in quality, equipped with technical means. And they are built not by well-paid skilled workers on modern technology, but by immigrants from the former union republics.

Also, one should not forget that the "directions" (more often this is a more accurate name) generally negatively affect the economy, increasing the costs of business and citizens. If you assess the losses they incurred because of the breakdown of cars, the increase in the delivery time of goods and people to their destination, the amount of waste fuel, the figures will be enormous.
