Falling out of the total mass down, this mixture is converted into conditions of either warm, or frosty air. If the temperature of the sub-layer is positive, rain drops reach the ground. If there are negative parameters, snow falls on the ground.

The lower layers of the atmosphere also play a role. If in summer the clouds are formed very high above the ground, under conditions of negative temperature, then the basic composition of the mass consists of ice crystals. This means that snow falls out of the cloud in the cloud layer. But passing through warm air, snowflakes are melting. Then, hail falls on the ground. If they manage to melt completely, then drops of water. That's why it's snowing, rain, hail.

It happens that atmospheric phenomena occur with a deviation (for various reasons) from the normal course of events. In this case, a thaw begins, the snow melts earlier, and rain falls to the ground instead of snowflakes.

Precipitation can be extremely abundant. First it rains, then as the air cools down, hail or wet snow can go. These precipitations can fall out without cooling, but always in the presence of a powerful cloud cover. If the front hangs over a certain terrain, the temperature of the atmosphere will drop even further, then real snow will be on the ground.
