Why do I need a white pencil in the chart?

It's only at first glance that it seems so simple a question about what a white pencil is for. Moreover, the overwhelming majority responds to it quite unambiguously - it is not needed for anything. But it is not so. The white pencil has its own, very extensive, field of application. And it is not needed most often by those to whom all other pencils are not needed. But those who are going to draw something, it can even come in handy. Especially if you have to draw on a dark surface.

So, what is a white pencil for?

The simplest answer to this question arises by itself - something to cross out and mark out on a black background, where an ordinary pencil simply will not be noticeable. This simple tool is widely used, for example, by designers and finishers in performing a variety of interior works. They just do not understand you, if you ask about what you need a white pencil. And what to draw and mark, if the background is dark? Those who sew clothes, too, often use it to draw small details and elements of cutting tissue, when there is not enough of an ordinary piece of chalk. But a really wide white pencil finds application in the most diverse kinds of graphics and applied art.

Artist-graphics without it just can not do

When constructing a wide variety of graphic images, this is an irreplaceable tool. With its help, you can bleach any colors or highlight halftones. How else to depict gray hair in the hair on the portrait, if there is no white pencil available? You can, of course, but it will not be easy. Often the graphics have to work not from the white sheet, but on the contrary - from the dark plane, for which the white pencil fits much more. And in this situation, such an instrument has almost inexhaustible expressive possibilities. It allows you to achieve effects that other means do not get.

Everything matters here - both the direction of hatching, and the force of pressure, and the hardness of the pencil itself. Of great importance is also the paper for drawing with a pencil. It should in no case be glossy, it should be abandoned immediately - it is unacceptable for drawing. The paper must be well glued, preference should be given to sheets of dense varieties. It matters the texture of the paper itself. Many outstanding works of graphics, adorning the world's leading museums, are made on the most inexpensive wrapping paper. Of course, it is difficult to do only with a white pencil. Most often it is used in interaction with other graphic tools. But for any serious graphics, the question of why a white pencil is needed sounds ridiculous. But it should be remembered that the classic of academic drawing this tool is not very recognized. It was believed, and it is not groundless that you should be able to draw without it. After all, we already have a white color - it's a piece of paper. But if there is an instrument that significantly expands the arsenal of our capabilities, is it reasonable to abandon it?
