Among all the disciples of the Savior, John the Theologian was distinguished by a special Christian love and virgin purity. He followed Jesus Christ unceasingly, was present at the Lord's miraculous healings, was next to the interrogations and followed the Teacher on the Way of the Cross. John the Evangelist was one of the three disciples of Christ, whom he especially brought closer to himself.

After the crucifixion of the Savior, the apostle tried to replace the Son of God with his mother and was with her until her very fast. Later John the Evangelist went from Jerusalem to Ephesus, intending to preach the Christian faith there.

On the way, the ship with its disciples sank into the sea. All of them could get out of the abyss, and only the apostle and his body were not found on the shore. Fourteen days later, John Prokhor's disciple found his teacher on the shore unscathed. The Lord saved his life, not allowing him to drown in the sea abyss.

In Ephesus, the Theologian was persecuted, arrested and sentenced to death. But the Lord always protected him. The apostle drank a bowl of poison and remained alive, he was thrown into a cauldron with boiling oil - and out of it he came out unscathed. After this, John was exiled to the island of Patmos. For many years he lived here, continuing to preach and perform miraculous healings.

On the island, John the Theologian wrote the Book of Revelations, or the Apocalypse, returning to the Ephesus - the Gospel in the year 95. In all his letters, the apostle urged Christians to love one another and fulfill the commandments of God.

The elder died, having survived all the other witnesses of the life of the Savior. When he was more than a hundred years old, the apostle told his disciples to dig a grave in the form of a cross, lay down in it and ordered him to fall asleep with his land. Later, when other students unearthed the burial place, it turned out that the body was not there. However, on May 8, a little bit of the ashes of the apostle appeared on this place, which healed all the patients. On this day and October 9, the name day is celebrated by men named after Ivan. At these dates, the Orthodox Church recalls the holy Apostle John the Theologian.
