The Sea of Galilee: the unique Kinneret

The Sea of Galilee is the biblical name of the unique Lake of the Sea of Galilee, located on the territory of Israel. Geographically, the coast of the Sea of Galilee is one of the lowest points on the earth's surface. It is below sea level by about 210 meters. It is difficult to say the exact figure - the water level in the lake depends heavily on the amount of precipitation that fell in the autumn-winter period. This also determines the extent of the coastline, well, of course, the depth.

The Sea of Galilee is of great importance for Israel - it is a third of the country's fresh water reserve, because the amount of water in the lake is the subject of close attention of both the government and ordinary citizens. There live about 50 species of fish, some of them are very rare and do not occur anywhere else. It is in this lake that St. Peter's fish is caught, which is offered in the surrounding restaurants. Many people say that it is very tasty. If you are going to visit Israel in the near future, be sure to try it, because recently there has been a discussion of a proposal to temporarily ban fishing of the Sea of Galilee to restore its population, but, as you know, nothing is more permanent than temporary solutions.

The weather in the area of the Sea of Galilee is famous for its unpredictability: the sun was just shining, it was quiet and calm, but suddenly a strong wind was blowing, a wild storm was played out. Only the old fishermen, who have lived on the coast for years, can predict the bad weather by one of them, which is visible, barely perceptible, signs.

This lake has many names: the Galilee, the Gennesaret or the Hinnerref Sea. Also this pond is called the Tiberias Lake (the sea) or, as already mentioned, the Sea of Galilee. In such a multitude of denominations it's easy to get confused, but in fact they all mean the same pond. On its banks are many attractions, which Israel is so famous for. The sea or the lake is not so important, the historical and cultural monuments, legends and were witnesses of the events taking place in these places are important. And there were a lot of events, and, fortunately, there are many holy places, where many visitors are eager. Many of them who have visited this sea-lake, speak of the extraordinary state of mind that comes near this place. Even if you do not believe in what is described in the New Testament, it's definitely worth a visit in this extraordinary place.
