When to excavate tulips? Look - do not be late!

The closer spring, the more you want flowers. But not imported, foreign and unusually cold, and ours that have blossomed on a flower bed or blossomed on an alpine hill. One of the first to bloom colorful tulips. "With its virgin beauty, even a rose can not be compared," one of the Eastern wise men said about the tulip. This is a divine flower - they say in Turkey, where the tulip can be found literally everywhere: on the ancient emblem of the country, on fabrics, dishes or carpets.

The elegance of the form and the brightness of the coloring made the flower one of the most loved by people. Only a few plants can become rivals of tulips for diversity and refinement of forms. Goblet, lily-colored, pion-shaped, fimbriated, parrot ... Variety of varieties allows you to pick the perfect flowers that will please you from April to June. And then they fade ...

In fact, the tulip is a unpretentious plant. Flowers can live in the shade, put up with any soil, even frequent watering and constant feeding them to anything. Only one rule they need to fulfill without question: in time to dig up the bulbs.

When to excavate tulips? How to find the optimal time to grow a healthy and strong plant? Some beginning flower growers count it from the moment when the flowering ends. But such a method is undesirable. After all, the time of full ripening of the bulb will depend not only on time, but also on the depth of planting, the sum of temperatures for the growing season. For example, in hot and dry weather, the bulb ripens faster than in the rainy and cool. The time of its ripening will be shortened, if after flowering immediately comes the heat. Therefore, it is better to establish the earliest time when it is better to excavate flowers, and then navigate through it.

The fact that the bulbs are already ripe and the time has come when to excavate tulips, you can find out by the leaves. As soon as the leaves of the plant have turned yellow and become soft and sluggish, it is necessary, before waiting for their complete drying, to make an initial, trial digging.

After digging up a dozen plants, we must carefully look at the surface of the bulbs. Mass excavation of tulips is performed when 80-90% of bulbs appear on their covering pale yellow scales with brown spots or dots. Do not be afraid that the dug out bulbs seem immature. Later on, when they are stored, they mature, and their light-colored covering scales turn into a brown one. Further drying of the bulbs, their cleaning and size separation is carried out.

In the case when it is too early to dig up the bulbs of tulips , do not rush. Leave them for some time in the ground - it will only benefit them. At the time of excavated and properly dried flower bulbs, the scales do not crack until the end of storage, even if the temperature in the room fluctuates significantly. The bulb does not dry out, does not become infected with pests and pathogens of viral diseases. In the case when digging out tulips in time, the bulb increases resistance to fusarium. Thanks to this method of excavating flowers, it is possible to remove the bulbs practically without loss. They do not dissolve into scales and whole, light shade, are clearly visible in the earth. Well, apart from everything, the vacant garden can be planted with flowers again. Annuals perfectly close all the "bald spots" in the flowerbed.

Of course, digging must be done on time. Too early cleaning of the bulbs, just like the belated one, will definitely affect the quality of the planting material. If you dig out tulips too early, it will affect the ability to reproduce and the decorative qualities of the flower. In the middle belt the end of June - the beginning of July is just the optimal time when digging out tulips is best. And it should be done very quickly, do not delay, so that the mature bulbs do not crack.

They say that the flower of a yellow tulip keeps happiness, and only a sincere laugh can open the bud. But tulips of any color bear in themselves the real part of spring, and, consequently, joy and happiness.
