In addition to the usual, physiological leucorrhoea, there are pathological signs that indicate the presence of an infection or an inflammatory process. If you suspect a mucus discharge with an unpleasant fish or sour smell, which occur with a burning sensation, pain and itching - go immediately to the gynecologist.

Especially guard should the greenish, yellow, serous whiteness with an admixture of blood. In consistence, they resemble cottage cheese, thick sour cream or watery mucus. Permanent abundant secretions can provoke the appearance of small ulcers and maceration, in some cases the libido decreases.

Main reasons

Sometimes mucous discharge can appear on the background of diabetes mellitus or in case of non-observance of personal hygiene. But often all changes indicate inflammatory diseases and vaginitis. The started form of vaginitis gives complications to the cervix, it threatens the formation of cervicitis (inflammation of the uterus or cervix). The reason for the change in the nature of the leucorrhoea may be some trauma of the female organs, or a tumor.

Recently, cases of infection with infectious diseases that are transmitted sexually have increased: chlamydia, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, mycoplasmosis, ureaplasmosis, herpes, papillomavirus. With the appearance of whitish cheesy or thick structure, this may indicate candidiasis (thrush). Often it is provoked by taking antibiotics, reducing the immune system, hormonal disorders or banal hypothermia.

Abundant mucous secretions of greenish color indicate trichomoniasis. Yellow whites indicate gonorrhea or chlamydia, but most often clamidiosis passes without clinical features. These diseases are accompanied by severe itching, painful sensations during urination and sexual contact, and an unpleasant smell of rotten fish is also observed.

Lean, serous leucorrhoea may indicate the presence of endometritis (inflammation of the mucous uterus). In this case, there are signs: sharp pain in the lumbar region, general weakness, fatigue, fever, abdominal muscles cramps, uterine enlargement, abundant and prolonged menstruation.

Any mucous secretions of unusual character, all the more accompanied by unpleasant sensations - this is a serious reason for the examination. It will be necessary to pass a smear to the flora, sex infections, bacussis, ultrasound and blood.

All attempts to engage in self-medication will not lead to a positive result, but only temporarily remove the main symptoms and lead the disease to a chronic stage. As you know, protracted infections are more difficult to treat and lead to complications.
