What is the difference between the list of mortal sins and the commandments of God?

The list of mortal sins is a list of "harmful" qualities of a person and human feelings, in the opinion of the church, preventing entry into heaven. He is often confused with the commandments of God. Yes, they are similar to each other, and at the same time are different. The commandment was formulated by Jesus Christ himself, ten of them. And the list appeared later, its author is Evagrii Pontius - a monk from the Greek monastery. At first there were 8 items in the list, but in the 6th century it was changed by Pope Gregory the Great, United avarice with vanity, replaced sadness with envy, after that seven mortal sins remained . The list in the XIII century was taken up by Thomas Aquinas, the famous Catholic theologian and theologian, he tried to determine which of the listed sins is the very first. Disputes about how to place the most harmful human feelings, are still being conducted. But he is still quoted in a pristine form: pride, envy, anger, despondency, greed, gluttony, lust. However, in our time they believe that laziness is a much more significant defect than despondency.

If you consider the list of mortal sins, it becomes clear why it is these human feelings that have entered it. Each of them leads to mental degradation, makes a person commit acts to the detriment of other people, and this is a real misdemeanor, for which they will have to answer before God. Of course, modern people treat mortal sins, the list of which was compiled almost two thousand years ago, somewhat differently than the early Christians. We have a different perception, more knowledge about the world around us. Although, by and large, the very feelings experienced by a person have not changed much, and therefore, the motivation too.

The list of mortal sins begins with pride, or arrogance. There is an assertion with which you can not argue: all are equal before God. No one is allowed to humiliate another, especially the weaker one. Nothing so destroys morality in a person, as a desire to feel a sense of superiority. The next step is envy, it directly pushes people to anger and the desire to make a mischief lucky. The reasons can not be counted, believe me, envy not only the rich and famous, any person can become a victim of an envious person. Others always have something that you do not have. Therefore, we must actively fight this feeling. It destroys from the inside. As soon as you envy someone, say: "I will have what I need and as much as I need." Anger is going on behind envy, but it's easy with him. In this state, you can so much navorotit - then in life you will not rake. Next is laziness. It makes a person inert and indifferent, kills in him the desire to set goals and achieve them, not to mention that he will not exactly work on himself and correct his shortcomings. Gradually, he turns from personality into a biological being.

Greed can be described by a common phrase: "The greed of the fraera has ruined." 80% of all crimes Are committed because of lust for profit. Comments here are superfluous. Gluttony can be treated as immoderation. In our time it has become an actual sin, with a sense of proportion we have big problems. We entered the era of availability of resources and huge consumer opportunities. All the time I want more and more. It's easier for us to get into loans at 50% than to refuse to buy the coveted item. Speak all the problems associated with this, there is no need. All of the above is true for lust, or excessive sexual freedom. Here it is worth paying attention to what has long been known to specialists. A large number of partners - not a fact of "coolness", but a sign of serious psychological problems: an inferiority complex, problems with the motivational sphere and many others.

The list of mortal sins allows us to cover the main harmful human feelings that can spoil the life of a person, preventing him from developing spiritually.
