What is professionalism and how to achieve it?

You can be a director of a bank or a factory, a famous journalist or a simple accountant, you can become a freelancer or live with alms - it's important to be a dock in your business. What is professionalism in the common sense? This is the fulfillment of tasks with the maximum diligence, skills and knowledge that a person has on this topic. They are not born with this, but this can be achieved. What is professionalism for the enterprise? This is a guarantee of its success and prosperity. Not the only condition, of course, but necessary. Few of us would like to wear clothes that are sewn poorly or to be treated by a doctor who is half-educated.
It is unlikely that anyone will be pleased to eat a poorly prepared dinner or to get a haircut with an inept barber. We will not trust the repair of pipes or wiring to someone who does not know how to get down to business.

What is professionalism and how does it differ from being amateur? After all, these two concepts are most often opposed. Professionalism in the work is manifested in deep knowledge of narrow specialization, in the appropriate skills, in careful and conscientious preparation and performance of the task. The lover lacks the thoroughness and understanding of the nuances and subtleties. Many people answer the question about what professionalism is, they say that first of all this education. However, this is not quite true: some theoretical knowledge is not enough. Professionalism of personnel is determined primarily by practical experience, skills and abilities. A carpenter who only knows in theory how to process a tree can not be considered an expert. Just like a doctor who has not performed a single operation or a programmer after a university who has not written a single application on his own, does not fit this definition of what professionalism is. A competent specialist can be someone who devotes a lot of time and effort to practice in the chosen business, deepen their knowledge and achieve higher levels of skill. Formal education is not a guarantee of professionalism. Pay attention to how many graduates of universities are now, who do not even understand the chosen specialty. A lawyer in order to be considered a professional requires years of practice and won cases. The surgeon becomes a competent specialist not immediately after the university, because the real knowledge and skills are acquired only in the process of work.

Become a "pro", ace can be in any case. However, this does not come by itself, it is not given without difficulty. In addition, the real problem of young people now is that few "new" graduates want to hire. Young people "without experience" find it difficult to find a place that would allow them to feed their families. As a result, they have no opportunity to practice and specialize in the chosen case, and one has to think about earnings and daily bread. An enterprise that values personnel, who understands that people are the main capital, creates all the conditions for the "cultivation" of professionals. This is a far-sighted approach: only those who feel needed and useful, those who have the opportunity to show their abilities and apply knowledge and at the same time think about work, and not just about earnings, can bring success to their company.
