What is desire? Is it a passion, a need or a motive?

Every day in our vocabulary we use thousands of words, without even thinking that many of them are precise psychological terms. Among those there is one of the most common - the desire. This word sounds from the lips of people more than often, and it happens that in practice it does not correspond to what has been said. Well, let's try to understand what it means and what is its scientific significance.

Terminology

In official psychological terminology, lust or desire is an average degree of will that fluctuates between ordinary desire and informed choice or decision. In other words, it can be said that desire is a need that takes on a concrete outline. The reason for this can be the cultural level of a person, his worldview and development, or the peculiarities of his geographical location. In all its forms, man's desires are based on the activity of his mental or physical impulses, and also on the work of the brain. The first set the impulse, and the brain gives this impulse specific outlines, an action plan for achieving the cherished goal, etc.

Psychoanalysis

Thus, we can draw a conclusion. Desire is a passive state of the soul that unites the will power and certain emotional experiences, emotions, feelings. In the process of how a person feels a desire for something, he realizes what he wants, understands why or for what reasons he needs it, and also roughly draws the possible ways to achieve his goal. In psychoanalysis, it is customary to believe that desire is an impulse, an impulse that pushes a person toward certain actions. Among such impulses, as Freud pointed out, there are conscious and unconscious.

How desires are born

To understand what a desire is, it is enough to look at our daily life. Every second we carry out any actions - mechanical, creative, guardianship. Many of them we do reflexively, both on a stuffed scheme and for a long period of time. But in all these cases, it is the desire that arises in the brain, in the soul and makes us act. Such desires, as a rule, are caused by natural, natural phenomena. We want to eat because the body requires food. When there is a desire to eat some special product, specific, it is worth considering that the body lacks certain vitamins. Each mother always has the desire to be close to her child. Such impulses can be called, of course, simple instincts, but they are inextricably linked with mentality, our worldview, tastes and preferences.

Spiritual side of the medal

If we consider this issue from a more creative side, then desire is an impulse to make our life even more beautiful, and the inner world is richer. The most vividly similar emotional impulses are traced in those people who, from childhood, have been accustomed to the beautiful. A pianist who is faithful to his instrument will constantly be tempted to play, write new works, improve his technique. On the basis of this, there may also be a desire, for example, to buy a new instrument (if the previous one failed), a new music book and so on. Similarly, the artist will have a simple desire to have all the necessary equipment and facilities for carrying out his creative activity, like a dancer, an illusionist, a designer, etc.

Building a life

Now we pass to the so-called third level of our topic. Here we have a desire - this is the basis on which our life is built. Initially, our destiny and all those events that occur in life, depend on our actions and actions that begin with desires. Thus, it turns out that if initially your basic needs are only satisfaction of physical needs, as well as "small" pleasures, then the whole life will be superficial. If, however, there is something more sublime among desires that relates to creativity, to the knowledge of the world, of itself or of some science, then fate becomes completely different. This gives a person a spark, an impulse, relying on which, he goes through life, achieves his goals and puts new ones. And the more he wants, the more diverse it becomes as a person, the faster he "grows" in moral terms and becomes more developed and interesting.
