What is a pylon? Pole dance as a kind of fitness

In the post-Soviet space pylon dance causes quite clear associations with striptease and cheeky girls. However, times change - pole dance has now grown to the level of an official sport and has become an art that is not easy to master. So, what is a pylon? How is it used in the field of fitness?

What is a pylon?

Pole dance, "pylon", "dance on the pole", "pylon dance" - this is the direction in the choreography, which in addition to the usual choreographic movements uses acrobatic tricks. Such an exotic variety of dance was practiced by the Egyptians, Sumerians and Romans: using a wooden pole, the ancient people not only performed choreographic numbers, but also increased their muscles and honed martial arts.

However, modern acrobatics on the pole, rather, enjoys the achievements of such Indian practices as Mallakhamb - something like yoga on a wooden pole. Then acrobatics on the pylon became one of the key numbers in the circus programs - many elements that were invented by circus performers for their numbers are now actively used in pole dance. Moreover, the artists with choreographic numbers on the pole perform in the programs of the world's most famous circuses, for example, Cirque du Soleil.

In the XX century strippers began to use in their performances elements of acrobatics on the pole, which added to their numbers "zest" and showed the professionalism of the dancer. But equating pole pole with striptease is fundamentally wrong. Strip plastic with a pylon is just a flow in such a wide dance direction as pole dance.

Technical equipment

A pylon (or in another way a pole) is the central technical element that is necessary for the performance of the pole dance number. It is made of various materials, but more often - from stainless, well polished steel. The diameter of the pole should be at least 40 mm, which provides a comfortable grip hands.

Stationary and rotating pylons can have both a rigid fixation (either to the floor or to the ceiling), and the fastening to the spacer. High mobility and ease of assembling the pylon allow you to show numbers in any premises, even outdoors.

Types of Pole Dance

What is a pylon is a kind of sport or choreography, sometimes it's hard to understand, because pole dance numbers are very diverse. In general, the direction of pylon dance can be divided into three streams.

  1. Pole art (artistic dance). The number in this style should differ not only in spectacular stunts, but also with the brightly memorable costume of the dancer.
  2. Exotic pole dance (exotic dance). Plastic and musicality - that's what is important in this form of pylon dance. Tricks are present, but there are not many of them. In this direction just include erotic dances.
  3. Pole sport (sports dance). In the sports genre, only the physical preparation of the dancer and the complexity of the tricks are important.

Thus the achievements of pole dance can be used by both athletes and artists performing in the circus or show business.

Pole dance and fitness

Since 2003, international piano dance competitions have been held worldwide - pole dance is officially recognized as a sport. In addition, it is used as a fitness program for women. In this case, the pole plays the role of a simulator, and the basic elements on the pylon are performed in order to maintain health, flexibility of the body, development of dexterity, and so on.

A pylon for beginners and dancers can be a great opportunity to "pump" the muscles of the whole body, because acrobatic stunts on the pole fully engage not only the upper musculature, but also the lower one.

Considering pole dance the lot of nightclub strip clubs, most people do not fully understand what a pylon really is. But this unique combination of choreographic, circus and acrobatic art is a rather complicated quintessence, which is cemented by the musicality and plasticity of the artist. And do not admire the spectacular and spectacular numbers of pilots - it's simply impossible.
