Proper care for hamsters is the guarantee of their health

There are many kinds of pets that do not bring visible benefit. They do not give milk, they do not cut their hair, they do not make shish kebab. Moreover, they do not guard the house and do not catch mice. But, nevertheless, such animals are pets of their owners. They simply please us with their presence and create a positive atmosphere in the house. In addition, if the family has children, then caring for a pet brings the younger generation to discipline and responsibility. And the ideal option in choosing a beast for a child is a normal hamster. These rodents are rather unpretentious, they do not have to be strolled or fed with some special food. And caring for a hamster will not bring much trouble. But a child can safely play with such a beast, and adults will bring joy to their behavior.

The Syrian hamsters and several species of their dwarf "brethren" are most suitable for keeping in the house. These animals do not live long, about 2-2,5 years, but with a careful attitude their life can be prolonged for a year or one and a half. To do this, you need to know how to properly care for a hamster. In the first place, it is necessary to choose the right "habitation" for these animals. If the hamster is alone in the house, then a standard cage will be suitable for it, which can be purchased at every pet store. There are, of course, several types of dwarf hamsters that can easily get along with a couple in one "apartment". But most of these rodents are single natures. And if you keep same-sexed animals in a small cage with a pair, then their rivalry can even lead to death.

And to keep a couple of these fluffy pets will require a fairly capacious cage. Its length should be at least 50 centimeters, and it should be 2-3 floors. This can be an ordinary wire cage with a plastic bottom. You can also buy a more "heaped" cage, equipped with special tunnels. It all depends on how much money the owner is willing to invest in his pet. And caring for hamsters, in particular for their housing - this procedure is simple, but requires some time. This cell just needs to be cleaned and washed periodically.

In cages for these animals, a litter is also needed. And in its quality you can use sawdust, scraps of paper or wood fillers. It is very important that it has absorbent properties. And to find a good bedding for these animals can be in a normal pet store. Do not use paper for this, on which something is printed. Because of it, the animal may have trouble breathing. Also it is not recommended to use sawdust with a strong odor. They can also affect the health of the hamster.

And although hamsters perfectly adapt to living at home and quickly get used to people, wild instincts are still "dormant" in their essence. In particular, this is the instinct of self-preservation. After all, no animal will sleep in an open area, where it can become prey for a predator. Therefore, caring for hamsters requires that in their habitation there are secluded places. There the animal can hide and feel completely safe. And since hamsters are awake at night, and sleep during the day, such a secluded place will serve as a "bedroom" for them. Even these animals will not interfere with some toys. They will help to keep them in good shape. Also hamsters are clean animals. They like to clean their fur in baths with sand. Therefore, the owner needs to provide them with this "hygienic means". Taking sand in the street is not recommended, since it can contain bacteria or parasites. And sand for chinchillas, sold at a pet store, is perfect for these rodents.

The main feature that distinguishes rodents from other animals is the structure of their teeth. This class of animals is special. They have one pair of large incisors on the lower and upper jaws. These teeth do not have roots? And they grow until the death of the animal. The same applies to hamsters. And therefore they are forced to constantly grind these incisors. In this regard, caring for hamsters who live in captivity, requires care for their teeth. To do this, they need to put small pieces of wood in the cage, and then the animals themselves will cope with their incisors.

Full nutrition is also not the last place in ensuring proper care for hamsters. In the stern for these animals must be in the necessary proportions and sufficient quantities of those elements that he needs for the formation of energy and growth. And for this, hamsters need minerals, fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and water. All this is in special fodder mixtures intended for hamsters. And since these rodents lead nightlife, then they need to be fed at night, about 8 pm. You can also give them food in the morning. The food for them must be fresh and benign.
