What happens to Transaero? What actually happened to Transaero?

What happens to Transaero? This issue still does not lose its relevance to the Russians, who prefer to travel by air mode of transport. And it is really urgent, as the services of the above-mentioned airline were used by a huge number of people. The geography of its flights is extensive: India, Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and other, other, other. What happens to Transaero, the company that was the largest player in the domestic transportation market? The company operated more than 100 aircraft, and the profit of 2014 was a fabulous sum - 114 billion rubles. Why suddenly the "prosperous" air carrier turned into bankrupt? What happens to Transaero today? Let's consider these issues in more detail.

Owners of the company

Air carrier "Transaero" was established in late December 1990. Its owners are the son of the Minister of Radio Industry of the Soviet Union Alexander Pleshakov and the head of the Interstate Aviation Committee Tatiana Anodina.

Until the last days of the airline's existence, its executive director was Alexander Pleshakov, and the Board of Directors of the commercial structure was headed by his wife Olga Pleshakova.

Causes of collapse

The situation with regard to what happens to Transaero can be described simply as banality. The company suffered bankruptcy. But a financial fiasco never arises from scratch. Its reason is a short-sighted and irrational leadership style. The owners of the air carrier have so unbalanced the levels of income and expenses that experts are still trying to find out what actually happened with Transaero.

The crisis began

Meanwhile, the carrier's financial problems have been around for a long time. Even in the period from 2007 to 2009, the amount of debt increased from 10 to 32 billion rubles.

However, by 2014 the situation was somewhat leveled. His contribution to the destabilization of the financial situation was the desire of management to enter the stock market. However, to realize this idea in practice was problematic enough, and the experts immediately suspected that the financial statements of the carrier were "non-transparent". In addition, the cost of the company itself was unjustifiably overstated. But this is far from all the pitfalls of what actually happened with Transaero. Bewilderment caused confusing optimism of the owners: they say, things are going well. Olga Pleshakova herself stated that Transaero does not need additional assets, therefore, it is not necessary to place securities. One way or another, but the audit companies that were checking the airline's financial records, signed the reports with huge reservations.

The crisis is intensifying

By the end of 2014, analysts have already finally predicted the scale of what is happening with the company Transaero. Her financial situation was simply terrifying.

The total amount of arrears to creditors reached astronomical figures of 250 billion rubles, with financial claims from fueling structures and air carriers amounting to 20 billion.

About 150 billion rubles is a debt on leasing obligations, and more than 30 aircraft are owned by credit institutions: VTB, Vnesheconombank, and Sberbank. Yes, and before the banking structures, Transaero had debt obligations - their share was about 80 billion. Among the creditors was a number of financial organizations: the Moscow Credit Bank, Rosselkhozbank, VTB, Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, Bank Otkritie, Promsvyazbank, MTS Bank. It would seem that the state should understand the situation, because it sees what is happening with the Transaero company, and is certainly able to help solve the financial crisis. However, officials did not hurry to interfere in the affairs of the largest participant in the air transportation market. Why?

Human factor

As already stressed, the financial collapse of Transaero is the work of the company's management, which for many years tried to increase the prestige and significance of its offspring by all means, presenting it as "the best of the best."

However, in reality it was not so, and it was not uncommon to use the PR technologies to throw dust into the eyes. Despite the fact that "Transaero" had a huge debt to creditors, the owners of the company continued the action called "Discount ticket sales". At the same time, the air carrier's partners were in every way opposed to fulfilling their obligations in debt. Pilots and stewards perfectly understood what was happening with Transaero Airlines, but its management tried to build a model that would be another argument in favor of the fact that the withdrawal of its offspring from the market would lead to the collapse of the whole industry.

Ways out of the crisis

At the end of 2014, the above-mentioned air carrier receives a loan from VTB Bank in the amount of 9 billion rubles under state guarantees. However, officials for a long time to understand what really happened with Transaero, and chose not to interfere anymore.

The assistant to the head of the Russian Cabinet Arkady Dvorkovich said that it is very difficult for the government to understand what financial upheavals occur inside the airline, and, due to lack of transparency in this matter, to render material support to Transaero is an incorrect measure. Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev supported his colleague, stressing that it is useless to financially support inefficient management.

Aeroflot

Soon, real progress has been made in solving the problem. The bankrupt company was interested in Aeroflot. This aviagigant, in practice watching what happens to the Transaero flights, was ready to acquire a controlling stake in the bankrupt carrier. Aeroflot offered a symbolic amount for securities - 1 ruble, but the deal did not take place. Why? First, the state no longer interfered in the situation, and secondly, the owners of the shares could not "collect" the necessary 75% plus 1 security in the general array.

And thirdly, the creditors did not arrange a restructuring plan, which Sberbank offered. The government has no choice but to decide on the financial insolvency of Transaero. However, the bankrupt himself had to fulfill his obligations to clients, but at the expense of the efforts of other air carriers.

In what conditions were the passengers

Of course, the news of the bankruptcy of the country's largest airline was not kept secret. Until now, many are trying to understand what is happening with the passengers of Transaero. Officials of the Russian Ministry of Transport hastened to reassure tourists that the obligations undertaken by the bankrupt company will be fulfilled by other carriers, including Aeroflot, S-7, Uteir, Ural Airlines, Orenburg Airlines. However, one should keep in mind the reservation: if the ticket was purchased for a flight with a date before December 15 of last year, then it will take place. If it was bought later than the above-mentioned period, the passenger will be returned its value. And on the Internet portal of the company "Transaero" you can find detailed instructions on how to return the ticket and get your money. If you purchased it via the Internet, then all return transactions should also be done via the Web. If the ticket was purchased in the offices of Transaero, then you need to go there.

Those who purchased it from the tour operator, it is necessary to pay a visit to him. If you took tickets at the ticket offices "Transaero", then they will have to be handed in only there. Employees of the airline said that the money for the ticket will be returned in the period from 14 to 30 days from the date of application.

What do employees do?

In a difficult situation were those who worked in a bankrupt airline. The question of what happens to employees of Transaero is also of interest to a huge number of people. Today, pilots, stewardesses of a bankrupt airline can not get a job, hoping that sooner or later they will be paid wages. Some pilots still manage to get into foreign airlines, while flight attendants are still experiencing financial difficulties. Partly solve this problem will help Aeroflot and the new unified airline "Russia".

Conclusion

Experts say that even such a powerful structure as Aeroflot is unable to cope with the debt burden that Transaero has built up. However, there will be no serious social consequences. Until mid-December last year, almost all obligations for cargo transportation within the framework of purchased tickets were to be met; Part of the passengers received money for them.

Aircraft, listed on the balance of Transaero, will become the property of Aeroflot. Part of the property will be sold from auctions. Creditors will certainly suffer huge losses. Experts say that today every airline that has its own fleet of aircraft and desire can cruise in the areas that previously served Transaero.
