What does it mean to "burn life": definition and meaning

The great, powerful, free and, of course, truthful Russian language at times amazes with its wealth, complexity and beauty - how many wonderful words in it have several meanings, how many stable expressions that amaze with its diversity, how many proverbs and sayings, whose significance with each new generation Changing ...

Ignorance does not absolve from responsibility

Often ignorance of one or another phrase, misuse of it or understanding becomes the cause of all possible situations having a greater or lesser level of embarrassment. Take, for example, the expression "burn life." Have you ever thought about its interpretation? Have you ever used this phrase? And maybe it was used in relation to you?

In the article, we will try to understand how it is to burn life, what is needed for this, and whether there is any need to master this skill at all.

By analogy with English

If one looks at the expression, so to speak, with the naked eye, it is quite possible to interpret it not quite correctly. Moreover - there is a possibility of absolutely wrong understanding, up to diametrically opposite.

A person who is little familiar with Russian phraseology may well think that to burn life means to take advantage of all the opportunities that it presents, to risk just as much as necessary to achieve a result. This interpretation is not surprising, because in the same English there is a similar expression to burn out bright, which has a similar meaning. If you translate the phrase verbatim, it will be something like "live so that it burn bright."

The expression is certainly beautiful, but it has almost no relation to the Russian version of the relationship.

A completely different shade

As you can easily guess from the subtitle of this paragraph, in our language the phrase "burn life" has a virtually diametrically opposite meaning. The shade is obviously negative, and it's unlikely that you will be able to boast of your erudition, praising someone like that.

In the Russian version, a person who burns life is, if not quite a lost soul, then clearly approaching it. In the minds of such personalities more often than not a complete binge, and about the future they are generally not taken care of in the majority are not accustomed.

Shade of luxury

There is no unequivocal answer to this question, of course, but in general terms the phrase will not explain the work. Despite the richness of the shades of understanding expressions in the minds of everyone, the most common points of view on this account, there are only two.

If one of your acquaintances suddenly turns out to be someone who allows himself to live on a broad foot, try all sorts of pleasures, starting with gastronomic masterpieces, ending with the organization of large parties, for which he, perhaps, can not even pay, know - this is a man who lives a life of luxury.

As an example, perhaps, in this case, it is possible to bring the main character of the novel F.S. Fitzgerald "The Great Gatsby". His slightly naive, to some extent frivolous attitude to life and money for the sake of achieving one single goal and has become an amazingly fertile soil for the so-called burning. This was magnificently demonstrated in the film of the same name. By the way, the life of almost the entire American elite of the 1920s and 1930s fits perfectly with this description.

but on the other hand

Nevertheless, people who descended to its very bottom will be able to tell about what it means to "burn life". In some cases, this process is understood just as a manifestation of excessive frivolity, sometimes leading to extremely undesirable results.

The interpretation of such situations exists, of course, just an incredible amount. For example, it is quite common to understand the expression as having any disastrous habits like drunkenness or even addiction.

For many, the burner of life looks like a person who does not want to do anything drastically to improve it, to achieve any new peaks. In a word, the personality is not at all ambitious, and at times even completely indifferent to reality.

Typical examples

If the first case is more or less clear, then the second, perhaps, requires a specific comment. In fact, it is not necessary to be one of the heroes of the incredibly realistic and exposing Gorky play "At the bottom" in order to approach such a description.

Speech in this case, of course, is not only about all kinds of marginalized people. To get a similar characteristic can, in fact, almost every one of us.

To do this, simply stop in personal development, stop spending your time and energy on it. The essence in this case will be precisely in the almost uselessly wasted time, which is pleasant, of course, very little.

Nevertheless, the interpretation described just above is less common than the one that we paid attention to first. In most cases, this expression means just a frivolous, somewhat bizarre life, which young people most often indulge.

It is this understanding of the phrase most often found in literature and cinema. Tomorrow's day for such people simply does not exist, as well as the need to think about the consequences of certain actions.

Of course, to some extent, such a position can be called romantic, but for the conduct of such a way of life there are always temporary restrictions, not to mention social ones. That's it - the expression "burn life", the meaning of which is so diverse.

In our time, unhindered access to the Internet with its many social networks and the ability to stay connected in the 24/7 mode to become a life builder is quite simple. So the next time before making a rash act that can lead to very different consequences, consider the question of whether you fit the definition described in this article. And most importantly - answer the question, do you need it.
