We make decorative benches from a log with our own hands

For the manufacture of garden furniture, the most popular material has always been and remains a tree. However, it should be taken into account that if you use coniferous tree species with your own hands when making benches from a log, the first thing to do is to get rid of resin residues, i.e. To grind the wood. This is necessary in order to avoid contaminating clothing when operating wooden furniture.

There are several ways to wood :

1. Make an aqueous solution of acetone in a 4: 1 ratio. Using a brush, apply this solution on the wood until it is completely absorbed, then thoroughly rinse the remaining solution with warm water and dry it.
2. Similarly, you can remove the resin with a solution of acetone and caustic soda in a ratio of 20: 4.
3. You can make a mixture of 6 parts of soda ash and 5 parts of potash, add water to a creamy consistency. This mixture needs to cover the wood in several stages. Before each application, the remainder of the solution must be washed off with warm water, and the wood should be wiped with a soft brush.

When making benches from logs, the most common tools are used by one's own hands. To get even slices, you will need a two-handed saw or chainsaw, a rasp and sandpaper to level the surface. To make the necessary shape, you can use a chisel or chisel.

How to make a bench out of logs

From stumps or trimmings of logs, you can get wonderful seats. To do this, you need to dig them in the ground a little. If desired, in the stump you can hollow out the recess for sitting, and then it will look like a full-fledged chair or a comfortable chair.

You can also make decorative benches from a log with your own hands. To do this, it is necessary to press the top of the log to a depth of 1/3 of the thickness. At the same time, 150 cm along the edges should be left untouched. Thus, you will get an excellent bench with armrests, which can be installed on several small logs: they, in turn, will play the role of legs.
