Warming of facades with foam plastic

Thermal insulation of facades with polystyrene is very popular due to its simplicity of execution, inexpensive materials and efficiency. But the foam in such systems must be protected, for which special plaster is used. A lot of materials are presented on how to paste foam on walls and fix it with dowels, but how to apply plaster to ensure maximum protection of the heater from moisture, mechanical effects, temperature changes, ultraviolet rays?

1. Preparation of the mixture for plastering. On the construction market there are many plasters for insulation of facades from various manufacturers. It is best to purchase a universal mixture from a trusted manufacturer. The average flow rate should be 4 kg / m2 for the installation of the net and 6 kg / m2 for the straightening of the walls. All mixing recommendations are indicated on the packaging. For the second, leveling layer, the mixture should be somewhat lighter.

2. Installation of the mesh on the plaster . Already pre-glued sheets of polystyrene are covered with a layer of plaster in 2-3 mm with a spatula. The grid should be alkali-resistant with a density of 140-160 g / m, as in the composition of many plasters there is cement. The more dense the grid, the smoother the plaster layer will be. But in this case, there may be a problem with the corners. To do this, cut the mesh strip width of 30 cm, bend it in the middle in the longitudinal direction and attach it to the corner. The spatula is smoothed with a mesh, as if slightly pressing it into the plaster. On the planes, the mesh is glued with sheets cut from the roll to 1 m. It should be noted that the plaster dries quickly enough that no waiting is required. Grid sheets are glued closely to each other, and afterwards already cut stripes are pasted on the joints.

3. Grouting the mesh . This operation is made by a plastic grater with an emery cloth. The mixture must be already dried. Grout is performed in a circular motion counter-clockwise, applying a small effort.

4. Application of the leveling layer. In the process of insulation of facades with foam plastic, it is necessary to make a leveling layer over the already adhered and stuck reinforcing mesh. At the same time, the same universal plaster mix is used as for the first layer and wider spatula. On average, the thickness of this layer is 3 mm. Plaster is applied smoothly, placing the joints of the mixture away from the mesh joints.

5. Grouting the leveling layer . The grout of the leveling layer is carried out in the same way as the mesh grouting: in a circular motion with a slight effort. The plaster must be completely dry. It is better, if it will be a day after its application. As a result, the surface should be as smooth and smooth as possible.

6. Priming . Primer increases the adhesive properties of the plaster, on which the final decorative coating will be applied. For priming use a roller with a short pile. It is important that there are no dashes on the surface.

7. Finishing decorative coating . This procedure will depend on the selected decorative coating. And all the details can be found on the original packaging.

This technology is suitable for most plaster systems based on polystyrene, including Caparol-capatect systems. Warming of facades in this case will give a really good heat-saving effect and provide an attractive appearance to the house.
