Volzhanka: a plant for a shady garden

Gardening is a known passion for our fellow citizens. As soon as the summer season starts, they are ready to work in their garden for days, creating stunning compositions from ornamental plants. Unfortunately, not everyone has spacious and bright gardens, and therefore lovers of gardening their plots have to look for green spaces that can grow in shady areas. One such is Volzhanka - a plant that is perfectly suited for growing in conditions of high humidity and insufficient illumination.

It is also known as aruncus. Its merit is not only in unpretentiousness, but also in an impressive appearance. In height, this herb can reach a height of up to two meters. A special glamor aruncus gives the fluffy long whisks of its flowers, which reach a length of half a meter! Flowering begins in the middle of summer.

In general, Volzhanka - a plant that looks great not only at the time of flowering. Promote this large and openwork leaves, which give it a remarkable and very impressive appearance. The width of the bush can reach one meter, so that a group of plants is perfect for decorating garden areas.

As already mentioned, Volzhanka dichotomous does not need any special care. It is so unpretentious that it can be successfully cultivated in sunny and shady places. However, the plant will thank you for its rapid growth and excellent appearance when grown on humus-rich and well-loosened soils.

Although Volzhanka easily do without these "excesses": in addition to the aforementioned ability to grow in the shade and in the sun, the plant tolerates well even wetlands and grows well in arid regions. Of course, even with such outstanding qualities aruncus forget about the need for at least minimal care should not be. Care measures are simple and include weeding, fertilization (provided poor soils), watering in especially droughty years.

It should be borne in mind that the young Volzhanka is a plant that practically does not need top dressing. However, this is true only for those cases when it is planted in a humus rich soil. By the way, aruncus responds best to the application of organic fertilizers, although it also responds well to the phosphorus-potassium mixture. It should be noted that after flowering (and it lasts about a month), it is necessary to cut down the fading inflorescences, which continue to pull nutrients from the plant. After the onset of autumn (or even winter / early spring in the southern regions) it is necessary to cut off the aruncus stem, leaving a stump not more than five centimeters high.

As for pests or diseases, Volzhanka - a plant very resistant to them. However, the caterpillars of the sawmillers may pose a certain danger for him, and therefore preventive treatments with special compounds do not interfere.
