Very poisonous snake of the family of aspidids: some representatives and their danger

In the world there are many reptiles whose bite for a person can be the last. Each very poisonous snake of the family of aspidids can pose a very serious danger to humans.

All members of the family do not tend to show themselves in the eyes, leading a predominantly nocturnal lifestyle. They prefer to live in burrows, and most often there are rivers nearby, because they like moisture very much.

See them in the day, and even on the surface of the earth, you can only in the breeding season. Each very poisonous snake of the family of aspidov at this time is doubly dangerous, since it does not hesitate to attack a person.

It is generally believed that only coral aspidum belongs to this family , but this is not so. The most dangerous representatives are all kinds of cobras and mambas (where more dangerous cobras).

Usually these snakes do not grow more than 70 cm, however some species (Naja) grow to two meters. The head of a blunted and slightly flattened form is characteristic. The mouth stretches slightly, and therefore the main diet consists of mice and small amphibians. The color of these snakes is extremely diverse.

Representatives of the family do not meet in our country, but there are many of them on the territory of the former USSR. The same Central Asian cobra (Naja oxiana), this very poisonous snake of the family of aspidids gives many problems to the inhabitants of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

It should be noted that cases of human bites are much less common than it is commonly thought. Because of a weakly stretched mouth, it often happens that the attack turns out to be ineffective: only localized soft tissue damage is observed, while in the glands the snake venom contains so much that it can suffice for the death of several people at once.

But even in such a successful (for bitten) case of symptomatic therapy, the wound is extremely poor. The poison acts mainly on the nervous system (which is the cause of paralysis), the hemolytic effect is not observed.

To find out that you were bitten by a very poisonous snake of the family of aspidids, it is often possible only by the incessant and very strong vomiting. Sometimes spasms are such that lead to ruptures of the viscera. Often, vomiting is accompanied by internal bleeding, especially characteristic of a bite of a coral aspidum.

Often there is a severe headache. If the poison dose was not lethal, it still affects the kidneys, as evidenced by the proteinuria developing in all cases. The deaths are mostly associated with developing cardiovascular insufficiency, which arises from the strong auto-toxicity of the body.

The green mamba, a very poisonous snake of the family of aspids, is extremely dangerous for people with a weak heart, since its poison is purposefully affecting the striated cardiac musculature. Her cunning is that even the slightest bite is deadly, since the toxic effect of its poison is several times greater than that of a cobra.

As we have already said, lizards, small amphibians and even insects enter the diet of these reptiles. In principle, do not disdain birds. When keeping them in captivity, you can use Madagascar cockroaches, earthworms, crickets and small mice. Note, without food, they can be for weeks, but without clean water they can die within five to seven days.

Thus, practically every poisonous snake of the family of aspidids is well adapted for keeping in terrarium conditions. It is another matter that strict adherence to safety procedures is necessary.
