Van Gogh Museum: a brief overview of the artist's periods of creativity

The famous illustration of this subject is the canvas "Potato Eaters". With dim lighting, the pictures produce an even grimmer impression on the viewer. In the gallery, it is used to create the right atmosphere.

  • Paris.

This stage is characterized by the use of lighter and bright colors. Pictures get blue, red and yellow shades of colors. Also at this stage, you can see a characteristic feature of the master - the use of short strokes in an expressive manner. The paintings of the Paris period are mostly represented by self-portraits. The work "Self-portrait in a felt hat" is a vivid example of this stage.

  • Arles.

This stage reveals Van Gogh as a master with a unique manner. Landscapes - the main theme of this collection. They are bright and juicy in the artist, the canvases depict flowers, trees and meadows in various variations. The famous work "Sunflowers" is a vivid example of this period.

  • San Remi.

This period did not go smoothly for the artist. Van Gogh was at that time in a psychiatric hospital, where he created his paintings. This affected the plot of the paintings. They are already written in the above mentioned creative manner of energetic strokes, which is combined with the use of softer shades. The Van Gogh Museum represents the most famous painting of the San Remi period - "Starry Night".

  • Over-sur-Oise.

The paintings of this period are placed in the hall with dazzlingly bright lighting, which creates the opposite of the hall lighting in the Netherlands stage of creativity. The master uses bright, juicy colors and enjoys his unique manner of short expressive strokes. One of the most famous works of this stage is "Wheat Field with Ravens". In addition to the collection of works by Van Gogh, the museum also has paintings by other painters. There is also a separate exhibition of the formation and development of the museum.

Other artists

The Van Gogh Museum also presents a wide exhibition of the works of other artists. They were close friends or contemporaries of Van Gogh. Among them are P. Gauguin, C. Monet, P. Picasso, and others. Acquaintance of artists took place in Paris. In this city, Van Gogh could observe the creation of works by French artists of impressionistic style, which soon became world famous.

Vincent Van Gogh studied in Paris for several months to learn the skills of his contemporaries. This period largely influenced the further creativity: the pictures began to be dominated by lighter shades, and the technique of the image of light was also improved.

The Van Gogh Museum in Moscow

On the one hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of Van Gogh, most European countries hold thematic exhibitions and events dedicated to the work of the great artist. Moscow also joined this project: from October 15, 2015 to March 8 next year in Moscow, there was a grandiose exposition of paintings - "Van Gogh. Revived canvases 2.0 ».

The Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam accepts visitors every day from 10 to 18 hours. The first of January is a day off.

The object is on the Museumplein Museumplein. To get there from the Central Station, you need to take the tram number 2 or 5 and go to the stop Hobbermastraat.
