Zorikto Dorzhieva's paintings are known today to art lovers all over the world. short biography
Zorikto was born in 1976 in the family of artists Balzhinima and Rimma Dorzhiev. His homeland is the city of Ulan-Ude. Since childhood, the boy had 2 serious hobbies - paintings and music, but he decided to follow in the footsteps of his parents and chose the profession of a painter. In 1996 Zorikto became a graduate of the school of culture and arts in his native city. After that, he was enrolled as a student at the Department of Painting of the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute. Having graduated with a red diploma in 2002, Dorzhiev during 2003-2005 passed an internship at the Russian Academy of Arts, where his head was the famous Russian painter Anatoly Levitin.
Exhibitions and auctions
Zorikto is considered one of the most promising artists of modern Russia. The first exhibition of the works of the young master took place in 2004 in his native Ulan-Ude. In the following years, Zorikto Dorzhiev's paintings were presented at solo exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Irkutsk, London, Brussels, Strasbourg, Luxembourg, Monaco, New York. The works of a native of Buryatia twice went under the hammer at the world famous auction of Christie's (USA). In 2013, his painting "Nirvana" was sold for 50 thousand dollars, and in 2014 for the graphic work of the master "Legend" was paid 15 thousand dollars. The works of the Buryat artist are kept in private collections in Germany, the USA, Australia and, of course, Russia.
Features of the paintings
Creativity Zorikto Dorzhieva - this is not just pictures. The master creates sculptures, illustrations for books, costumes, video art. But, despite the multifaceted talent, for the majority of connoisseurs of art he remains first and foremost a talented artist whose works are the protagonists of the endless Buryat steppes. The favorite subjects of Dorzhiev always remain oriental beauties, warriors, nomads and heroes (Steppe story, Soldier of Fortune, Duel, Meeting, Contemplator, Concubines, Sisters, Princess, Etc.). Zorikto Dorzhieva's paintings were executed mainly in grotesque form. Most of the paintings the author writes with oil, but in some works he uses acrylic paints and foil of gold color.
Each of Dorzhiev's paintings is unique in its own way. His "Gioconda-Hatun" is an ironic depiction of the mysterious eastern woman in the image of the Mona Lisa, and "The Contemplator" is a lonely nomad philosopher, meditating on the meaning of life among the boundless steppes and the blue sky. The plot of the picture of Zorikto Dorzhiev "Dream of the Princess" takes us back to those times when we enjoyed reading Andersen's fairy tales. There is the artist and his "Little Prince", looking thoughtfully into the distance. Many canvases of the painter are imbued with a profound meaning, which makes one think about simple truths. These include "Jewels", "Doubt", "First Love", "Three Generations", "Waiting."
"Imaginary reality" of the creator
In the Tretyakov Gallery in late January 2015, a personal exhibition of Zorikto Dorzhieva was opened. It was called "Imaginary Reality." The master presented the works created by him over the last decade. In addition to paintings at the event, you could see Dorzhiev's sculptural compositions and costumes invented by him, as well as listen to music in his performance. The exhibition lasted until the beginning of spring and became for Zorikto another conquered peak, because not every artist is honored to present his canvases in the Tretyakov Gallery.
