Unusual cat of the world: a cat of Bengal breed

Bengal breed of cats appeared relatively recently from inter-species crossing of the usual domestic shorthair cat and wild Asian leopard cat. Serious experiments on breeding a cat of Bengal breed began in the 60s of the last century and passed quite successfully, because, as a rule, cubs from such crossings are infertile and can not leave after themselves offspring. Generation after generation, scientists have perfected qualitative signs of a Bengal cat and, finally, have come to certain standards. So there was a cat of Bengal breed, a small domestic leopard.

What does a Bengal cat look like?

A cat of Bengali breed is distinguished by an unusual color, in which it is impossible not to fall in love! Usually the pattern on the skin is marble or spotty, and the color of the fur itself is from golden to rusty, orange and even ivory. The spots also vary in size and color, but, as a rule, they are already darker than the main color - black, chocolate brown, cocoa or charcoal. Often happens and so that the multicolored marks on the skin merge with each other and form "rosettes" - dark on the fringing, but light in the middle. And with a marble color, one or more colors go smoothly into the main shade of the cat's fur coat. Typically, the animal has a very shiny coat of medium length. The Bengal cat has a long, muscular, graceful body (the genes of wild ancestors, which in their blood can be up to 25%), as well as the thin tail thinning to the end. On average, the adult male weighs up to 7 kg, while the female weighs up to 4 kg, and the life expectancy with proper care can range from 15 to 17 years. Since their birth, they are very mobile and are always happy to show the owner his agility and activity.

The nature of a pet

Often appearance is deceptive. When you see in the store or the breeder how fussy the kittens of Bengali breed are, you will think that a small predator will leave home with you. But this is by no means the case. Despite the wild progenitors, the Bengal breed cat is soft and friendly, usually it is listened to by the owners, and is also easily accustomed to a certain place for food and toilets. Their behavior is quite typical for a normal domestic cat, are they a little more mobile and active. These pets are very communicative, like to communicate with both hosts and guests. Do not deny the pet attention, if it comes and falls on your knees or on your shoulders, what they especially like, and starts to purr - to talk to you.

Small home diver

But what strikingly distinguishes the cat of the Bengali breed from any other, is the love of water and water procedures. They are happy to wash themselves and love to get to the owner when he takes a shower or a bath. But be careful! If you have an aquarium at home, one day you can find in it your pet, fishing goldfish. In general, Bengali cats are unpretentious in their care. Like any other pets, they need two meals a day and a clean toilet. Their short hair is enough to comb out once a week and, if necessary, cut the claws.
