Unusual birds: an ocher-eaten parrot

The burnt parrot (also known as the ringed one) is now a very common pet. He received his name due to a peculiar coloring and the presence of a characteristic strip - "necklace" on the neck.

The size of these birds reaches 50 cm, the length of the wings is 16-17 cm. Their plumage is bright: yellow-green, emerald-green with bluish feathers on the back of the head. The males around the neck are a dark stripe resembling a tie. And the females often do not have such a "necklace". The tail of these birds is long, stepped.

It is characteristic that necklace parrots have weak legs and run very badly on the ground. For movement on branches they use a beak more often.

There are about fifteen subspecies, two of which have already completely died out. The most common are the following:

- Big Alexander's parrots parrot is the largest representative of this species. Its length reaches 48-50 cm. The color is herbaceous-green with a bluish tinge; on the neck there is a pink band and a black "tie"; on each wing there is a red-red spot. These birds live in India, Burma, Indochina and Sri Lanka. The parrot wears its name on behalf of Alexander the Great. According to legend, the warriors of the great general brought with them these birds, returning from the Asian campaigns.

- Parrot Carmer's ocher-tree - looks like the previous species, but is much smaller in size, and there are no reddish spots on the wings. These parrots have a black hook and a red hock, and around their eyes - orange rings. This species lives in two parts of the world - in South America and in Africa. Krager's burnt parakeet has perfectly acclimatized in Western Europe. His nesting grounds can be found in large Dutch and German cities.

- Rose-parroted parrot - the body is dark green, and the breast and abdomen are pink. Head - gray-blue color, on the neck - a black "necklace". This is a medium-sized bird up to 40 cm long. There are six species of rosy-chested parrots on the islands of Kalimantan and Java. These birds are not suitable for domestic breeding, so they are often caught by adults.
