Unrestrained Merida, princess-daredevil

The animated film "Bravehearted", filmed by Pixar in 2012 with the assistance of the Walt Disney studio, presents an instructive story of the relationship between mother and daughter. This is the first animated film Pixar, the protagonist of which is the fairy princess. Merida is a real daredevil and unlike other classical princesses. The heroine at the same time has a hardness of character, able to resist the age-old foundations, and devoted to an ardent heart, so she immediately fell in love with the viewer. Cartoon events take place in medieval Scotland, whose beautiful landscapes are realistically and artistically recreated on the screen.

History of Mérida

In the Scottish royal family, Princess Merida is brought up, the cartoon tells her story, beginning with her early childhood. The girl has a brave and persistent character. Instead of sitting in the castle and guarding the royal honor, as befits a princess, she loves to shoot from the father's bow and rush through the vast expanses riding on Angus's favorite horse. This behavior is upsetting the mother of Merida, Queen Elinor, she worries about her daughter and in every possible way tries to protect her from possible danger. After all, while still very young, Princess Merida witnessed the struggle between her father King Fergus and the terrible bear Morda, in which Fergus, defending his family, lost his leg.

The Rebel Princess

Many years have passed, but the queen still feels fear when her daughter goes for a walk in the forest. Elinor tries to re-educate a stubborn girl and instill in her good manners, hoping that eventually Merida will become a real princess and find herself a worthy elect. The girl herself is absolutely not interested in marriage, she likes to perfect her art of archery more. Therefore, when, according to tradition, on her sixteenth birthday Merida (princess) should choose her fiancé, Elinor does not accept any refusals to her daughter and insists on that she meets candidates for husbands.

None of the sons of noble families of the kingdom has not struck Merida's heart. The girl is as stubborn as her red curls, which her mother constantly tries to put in her hair and hide under the mantilla. Therefore, in the head of the rebellious princess, a plan is ripening how to avoid marriage. Merida announces an archery tournament in which the winner will get her hand and heart. The princess also takes part in the competition and wins, defending her hand, as well as the right to refuse marriage.

From this trick the queen was beside herself. Between the mother and her daughter there is a quarrel. Offended Merida (princess) rushes into the deep thicket of the forest, where he meets a sorceress. Without thinking about the consequences, the girl asks the witch to charm the mother, so that she ceases to impose her marriage.

When sorcery works, Merida will bitterly regret her desire, but it will be too late, now her whole family and kingdom are put under attack. In order to fix everything, Merida (princess) must cope with her pride and go through many trials, for which she has very little time. The curse can only be removed before the dawn of the second day.

History of character creation

The scriptwriter and director of the cartoon Brenda Chapman, while writing the script, drew her inspiration from the tales of the childhood authors of the brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. A distinctive feature of the plot of her written history is the relationship of the mother and daughter, around which the fairy tale events occur. Creating the character of the queen, Brenda took as a basis the manner of her own behavior, and Merida (the princess) began to possess the character traits of her daughter Chapman.

When in 2008 the studio Pixar decided to change the format and remove the animated tale, the heroine of which will be the young princess, the artists created over one hundred thousand storyboard drawings, most of which were later used in the film. Interestingly, the creators of the cartoon originally planned to give it the name "Bear and Bow".
