Triple cologne: a bit of history

In Soviet times, in any perfumery department, it was possible to buy cologne "Triple". He cost a penny, there were no queues behind him, so he was not always used as intended. The history of this "Cologne water" has more than three centuries, and it was conceived not as a perfume, but as an elixir with miraculous properties that can heal almost all the diseases of the world. The instructions clearly indicated that the remedy could protect against plague, remove poison from the body, cure jaundice, colic, burns, etc. And it also added beauty, giving the skin of the face smoothness and beautiful color.

Hence, Triple cologne was a remedy. But it lasted until Napoleon issued in 1810 a decree that required the disclosure of recipes for absolutely all medicinal elixirs, potions and

Other so-called drugs. Manufacturers of "Cologne water" did not want to disclose their secrets, so they added a few fragrant components to the cologne and declared that it was a perfume. In a new capacity, the miraculous elixir was also accepted for "cheers", even the emperor himself was delighted with him. It can be said that it was he who, with his army, "brought" Triple Cologne to Russia, when he went to conquer Moscow. Fortunately, he was not able to do this, but "vodichka", in which alcohol contained about 60 percent, has very much taken root. And, already based on its composition, other perfumes began to be produced in the country.

But where did the name - Triple Cologne? His composition, maybe, was somehow, Something mysterious? Not at all. Simply, in order to declare the medicine perfume, it was added three aromatic components, namely: bergamot, lemon and neroli. Since then, the composition has remained almost unchanged, although some modern manufacturers of this cologne also add lavender, geranium, nutmeg, coriander, sage (of course, in the form of essential oils). On sale Triple cologne can be found without any problems, and it is, by today's standards, still inexpensive. Strangely enough, it is increasingly bought by girls, because they are convinced of its effectiveness against skin imperfections. In many ladies' forums, this compliment is paid exclusively to this remedy, as it helped to get rid of young (and not so) beauties from acne.

For example, a recipe is recommended: in Triple Cologne two packages of streptocid are added, mixed and for ten days is removed to a dark place so that everything is well dissolved and insisted. After this, twice a day with cotton wool soaked in the resulting solution, the affected areas are smeared on the skin. And also cologne, but in its pure form, helps to remove the itch after mosquito bites. Some even manage to strengthen their hair, as well as relieve pain in arthritis and other such diseases. The only drawback of the "Cologne water" was its smell. But, since it is used exclusively for medicinal purposes, and not in perfumery, it is quite possible to accept such a defect, especially since the effect of using this cologne, in the literal sense, is obvious.
