Very often the parents face the problem of how to make a mask for their chadushka for the holiday or to participate in a theatrical performance. The easiest way, of course, is to go to the store and buy what is needed. However, it happens that suddenly on sale there is no necessary model. Here are all kinds of masks: a wolf, a bear, a hare, and a spider-man, but there is no right mask for a turtle. Or just a little money and you have to save. Or I want to make such an exclusive and original costume, which no one will have!

In these cases, there is no other way out, how to make a mask with your own hands. But this, in fact, is quite simple! But very entertaining and interesting. Moreover, the kid will necessarily take the feasible participation in this matter, which will give him the opportunity to become a little closer to him: nothing so brings people together as joint labor impulses.

There are many benefits that tell how to make a mask. The simplest of them is a mask-cap or mask-crown. For the crown mask, you need cardboard, scissors, paints and an elastic band to hold it. The muzzle of the desired animal or fantastic creature is depicted on cardboard, cut out, and an elastic band is sewn around its edges. This mask is put on the forehead above the eyes, like a crown.

Now in brief you can tell how to make a mask-cap. It should be sewn from the fabric. To do this, you need special patterns, a filler such as cut foam, buttons for the eyes. This mask has the shape of the upper part of the animal's head, which ends just in the mouth section: the upper jaw is part of the masquerade headgear, but the lower one is not. After sewing the main parts, the nose (the upper jaw) should be very tightly packed filler, so that it was straight and did not sag, sew the ears, eyes and pipette nose. Teeth are suggested to be made from white shoe insoles: it is scary to look at, and it will not be possible to hurt a child with soft fangs.

But some craftsmen offer materials telling how to make a mask of paper. Or rather, not quite from paper, but from papier-mache, which is already made from it. To do this, adults need to prepare a lot of old newspapers or other waste paper trash, scissors, brush and paper glue, although you can use a paste made of flour or starch. Still need material for molding the shape of the mask: clay, dough or clay. After the mask has dried, it will need to be painted with paints, and you can even cover with varnish for furniture - then it can serve a very, very long time.

We prepare the desired form on the table from the material for modeling. Then cut the paper with uneven pieces from 2 to 4 square meters. Cm area. It can be triangles, squares, diamonds and even hexagons - a form of pieces does not play a role. The first and second layer of paper scraps, which should be arbitrarily placed on the mold, should be moistened with water so that they do not stick to the molding material.

Next, the paper needs to be coated with an adhesive compound and pasted it with a shape, carefully pressing the paper against it so that there are no voids, creases and irregularities. Pieces should go on top of each other, but spread all over the surface evenly. When the thickness of the mask reaches at least 5 mm, you can stop making papier-mâché, making the last row of white paper.

Now the mask should dry well. After that, it is separated from the form, the unglued scraps of the first two rows are removed, a sharp knife or a scalpel is cut out or trims the holes for the eyes, mouth and breathing, holes are drilled at the edges to fix the gum or tie.

Now you understand how to make a mask of papier-mâché. It remains only to paint it, cover it with varnish and insert in the holes ribbons or rubber bands to hold the mask on the face.
