More than three thousand years have passed since the reign of King Solomon. With him was built a majestic Temple, where the relics were sacred to the Jewish people. The structure was erected on top of a high mountain. The architects working on this particular project came up with the idea to lay out to the Temple a wide beautiful staircase of stone white monoliths. In the end, it turned out to be a real miracle!
The structure was created not as a monument to the tsar, but as a holy place of God, called to bring to the people divine revelations. Throughout the state history, the Temple was destroyed, restored, and again destroyed. But the sacred place was still preserved - and to this day it identifies the heart of all Jews. And the Weeping Wall (Western Wall of the Temple) in the modern world is considered a symbol of the past and a hope for the future.
It is worth mentioning that the Wall of Wailing did not possess a special sanctity from the very beginning. It was just a defensive structure around the Temple Mount. Already later, King Herod began to strengthen it, eventually creating a reliable and powerful strengthening. Today, erected by thousands of people more than two millennia ago, the Weeping Wall in Jerusalem is a symbol of rebirth, the embodiment of all the desires of the people, for which Israel is a native land. The sanctity of this place with the passage of the years only increased. Generations were replaced one after another, and the construction constructed for defense became a sign of the firm spirit of the Jews.
Once the Weeping Wall in Israel was part of a city street. Here people lived, trade was carried out. Near her no one prayed - believers preferred to do this near the walls in the southern and eastern parts of the city. The fact that this place will become a shrine for the entire Israeli people, then no one could even think. In general, the Weeping Wall has a very rich, somewhere even tragic story. In 1948, during the war for the independence of Israel, the holy place was captured by the Jordanian Legion. And although under conditions of the ceasefire reached in 1949, Jews were allowed to visit him, in practice this was almost not observed. Only in 1967 the paratroopers of the Israeli army in the process of the Six Day War liberated Jerusalem, and simultaneously with the Wall of Wailing. Finally, everyone who wished could have a prayer about a sacred place. The Weeping Wall became accessible to all.
Today, here at any time you can see people praying. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit Israel to touch the shrine, ask the Almighty for the most intimate, leave a note between the stones asking for God. Traditionally, for a prayer, men to the Wall come to the left and women to the right. A grand synagogue under the Israeli sky is also a place for holding all sorts of ceremonies and ceremonies of the Jewish people.
