Real story

Indeed, this picture - not just another brainchild of writers about the heavy share of Russian women. The film was preceded by a real story. She was described in the pages of her book by the famous Soviet writer Irina Grekova. From the pen of this woman came more than 10 novels, which became popular in the Soviet era. It turned out that the well-known scholar Elena Sergeevna Venttsel wrote her novels under this pseudonym. "The hostess of the hotel" - the so-called work, which formed the basis for the film "Bless the Woman", and the actors moved the Kiryushins family history to the screens. Faith, performed by Svetlana Khodchenkova, became the embodiment of Olga Semenovna, and commander Larichev, who won millions of women's hearts, thanks to the masterful play of Alexander Baluev - her husband Konstantin Vasilyevich.

One day, after arriving with her family to rest in Odessa, Elena Sergeyevna settled in the guest house of the Kiryushins. Since then, strong friendship has developed between women, and after learning the wonderful life story of Olya, she decided to transfer it to the pages of her novel, which was published in 1976. Unfortunately, neither the author nor the main characters of the novel survived to his screen version. And yet the director tried to convey the most realistic image of a Russian woman, described in the book.

"Bless the Woman": actors and roles

Before the shooting began, there were only a few months, and the cast was not yet matched. Stanislav Govorukhin started casting for participation in the film. On the secondary roles were immediately approved the actors. The role of the eccentric actress Kunina, who lived in the house of the Larins, went to Inna Churikova. Anna, Verochka's mother, was supposed to be played by Irina Kupchenko. Alexander Mikhailov was supposed to embody Yurlov, the second husband of the main character. Vitali Khanina was chosen to play the role of Colonel Ryabinin. Such a diverse and starry one saw the director Govorukhin his film "Bless the Woman". Actors and supporting roles were thought out to the last detail and did not cause doubts. But the main characters were never found. As a result, on the last day of listening to Govorukhin on the leading roles decided to approve Vladimir Guskov and Masha Mironov.

But the case changed all the director's plans. A disheveled and frightened Sveta Khodchenkova, a first-year student at the theater school, ran into the room, and, out of breath, informed that she had come to audition for the role of Vera's sister. Glancing at the frightened and excited girl and having chatted with her for several minutes, Govorukhin immediately realized that he had found the main character for his new film. In connection with these changes, the male image was given to Alexander Baluyev, who also tried to play the role of commander of the Soviet Army.

The plot of the movie

Ode to a Soviet woman - so secretly called the film crew the film "Bless the Woman". Actors, reading the script, understood: in order to recreate the spirit of the past era, you will need a complete immersion in your own characters. What is this picture about?

The film begins in the distant 1935. Young seventeen-year-old girl Vera on the beach meets a military man. Between people a free conversation is set up. A fleeting meeting turns the life of Vera upside down. A man twice her senior offers to become his wife and leave with him from her native village. So wanderings and life vicissitudes of Verochka begin as the wife of commander Alexander Ivanovich Larichev. The constant nomadic life in connection with her husband's appointments, the absence of a family nest, Shunechka's reluctance to have children, war, the death of her loved ones - a lot of troubles fell to this staunch woman, ready to submit to fate, but not to lose hope and faith.

The main idea of "Bless the Woman", which the actors beautifully embodied in the screen life of their heroes, is the feeling of love and devotion that Russian women carried throughout their hard life in the heart.

Reviews about the film "Bless the woman"

At the box office, as predicted by critics, the film failed. The box office fees were miserly. But the TV version as a 4-serial film won the audience. Such a flurry of positive emotions and responses to the painting "Bless the Woman" actors and crew did not expect. It was a success! The viewer loved this film, and he liked not only the older generation, but also the youth.

Recognition of critics and awards
