One of the most vivid and original performers of electronic music is the French group "Space" ("Space"). The style in which all the compositions of this group are written is called synthpop. The group was established in France in 1977. The names of its founders - Didier Moruani, Yannick Top and Rolland Romanelli. By that time, Moruani was already a famous performer and composer, and it was he who became the ideologist of the band's creation. The main importance was attached to a fantastic sound, so the main part was performed on a synthesizer, using unusual variants of it, for example, a keyboard. In order to enhance the effect of their space electronic compositions, the musicians held a laser show at concerts and even performed in spacesuits.
The "Space" group is a musical phenomenon
Their first album "Magic Fly" was a resounding success, becoming "number one" in the charts of Europe and America. An interesting fact - Didier Marouani worked on recording his compositions in the studio alone, performing the parts of all musical instruments. The second album of the group "Space" comes out just a year after The first under the name "Deliverance" ("Liberation"). For his record, the famous drummer Ray Cooper, working with Elton John, is involved. This album awaits a huge success and a worldwide recognition of the composer's talent of Moruani. After the release of the third album "Just blue", the band "Space" arranges a tour of Europe. Musicians collect whole stadiums for their concerts. A deafening commercial success everywhere accompanies the group, but it also leads to disagreements. As a result, Didier Moruani leaves the group. "Space" is trying to continue its activities without it, but the music written by Rolland Romanelli, although sustained within the genre, is still different from the previous compositions that won the hearts of listeners. In 1981 the group "Space" finally ceased to exist.
Revival of the group
Didier Moruani led a very successful solo career. His best albums of this period are "Paris-France-Transit" and "Space Opera". To record "Space Opera" - the first electronic-space opera - Moruani used the Soviet Army Choir and the Harvard University Choir . In 1990, after going through a lawsuit, Didier Moruani received the right to the name "Space". From this time the group begins a second life. The music of the band "Space", as before, has a fantastic sound. Moruani experimented with light and laser effects. An integral part of the concerts are visual compositions - giant projections of images, fireworks and, as always, lasers. It combines the sound of electronic instruments and a symphony orchestra. The St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra takes part in recording the album "Symphonic Space Dream". The fate of the former member of the band "Space" and its second composer Rolland Romanelli also developed successfully. Romanelli for a while worked with Jean-Michel Jarre. In addition, he continued to compose space music, recorded several solo albums in this genre. Romanelli successfully collaborated with Celine Dion. Currently, he is known as a composer who writes music for the cinema. One of Romanelli's most notable works is the music for the film "Asterix and Obelix v. Caesar".
