The Russian microprocessor is not only a valuable fur, but also ...

Many heard statements that the technological gap between the advanced countries and the rest of the world is insurmountable. Russia, unfortunately, is in many positions today in the group "the rest of the world". Here is a popular bike, which appeared at the end of the era of socialism: a delegation from Japan was invited to our electronics factory. They looked at the plant, and after the tour one of our bosses asked: "In your opinion, tell me, how much do we lag behind on computers?". They in Japanese modestly hesitated, but answered: "Forever, if it is fair."

But, thank God, that in Russia there are people for whom the sentence of the Japanese engineer did not become an axiom. They just do their job. Here is one of the real facts: Fujitsu (Japan) acquired a license for the production of NeuroMatrix from the Moscow firm "Module" - it is a Russian microprocessor. And although the deal was equated with sensation, it is clear that a "dense" country can not give birth to such things, and Russia has a chance to catch up.

In the meantime, the microprocessor is not a national product. On the territory of our country there is only the assembly of computers. Microprocessors and boards are produced in Southeast Asia, design centers - Japan, Europe, North America. There is no Russia on this map.

In general, the microprocessor is the basis of any computer, it depends on it, what capabilities the final product will have. And although in our country there are advanced developments in this field, there remain many unresolved problems with the introduction of them into production.

First of all, this lack of capacity, since the microprocessor is a technically extraordinarily complex task, which requires the presence of high-tech industries, which we do not yet have. On the territory of Russia, a microprocessor can only be given a virtual life, and it is necessary to manufacture abroad. The above-mentioned first microprocessor NeuroMatrix was made at the factory of the Korean concern Samsung.

The resulting chip surpassed by some characteristics everything that was available in the world at that time. It had a non-standard architecture, which has no analogues. The Japanese planned to use it in cellular telephony in its new standards, to transfer the images of interlocutors in real time. For ordinary home computers, the chip is not designed, although it can be installed there, but it will be like shooting from a cannon on sparrows. Since its capabilities far exceed the needs of PCs, and it needs to be applied in incomparably more complex devices.

On the basis of Russian processors , the first monoblock computers "Elbrus" were manufactured. These are stationary computers in which the system unit is combined with a display. And from the laptop they differ in that the keyboard is separate, it is connected the same way as on a regular desktop PC. The motherboard "monocube" - the Russian one from ZAO MCST, the microprocessor is "Elbrus-2C +" - also the Russian development. The computer has a touch screen 1600x900 pixels, DVD-drive, there is a seat for installing a second additional hard drive. Advantages monoblock - it's good ergonomics, attractive appearance, noiselessness, reduced heat emission.

Summarizing, I want to say that it is not worth burying Russia as a country of high technologies. We have enough clever, talented, purposeful people. The country's leadership understands that the time of petrodollars passes and actively encourages the emergence and development of new high-tech projects. I am glad that the changes for the better are happening, because creating a microprocessor is not only a technically difficult task, it requires huge financial investments, and the state can not do without the help of the state.
