The narrowest street in the world from the Guinness Book of Records

In the inconspicuous German city of Reutlingen there is a unique place known all over the world. This Spreuerhofstrasse is the narrowest street in the world, recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. After the fierce fires that swept the whole region of Baden-Württemberg in 1826 and destroyed 80% of the city's territory, a global reconstruction of Reutlingen's buildings was carried out, which resulted in the formation of the Spreierhofstrasse in 1827. It is not like all the streets of Germany, and is just a narrow passage between the houses, the width of 31 to 50 cm! Therefore, it is not very popular with citizens. However, it is a place of attraction for travelers from different countries, because it is not so often given the opportunity to walk along the street 50 cm wide. But not everyone will decide on such a dangerous event. Especially since one of the houses, between which the narrowest street in the world lay, partly skewed, which makes it even more difficult to move along it. However, the overlapping of the Spreierhofstrasse in Reutlingen is excluded and will not happen in the near future. Otherwise, humanity would lose a unique relic of the 19th century, and Germany - the status of the owner of the well-known and narrowest street in the world.

The second place in this list is occupied by the Czech Republic. In its capital, Prague, 150 meters from the legendary Charles Bridge , a close but cozy street with an intriguing name of Vinarna Certovka stretches out, stretching only 60 - 70 cm. According to legend, the mysterious name came from the river - one of the tributaries of the Vltava River, which Called Chertovka, nicknamed a local resident and a very arrogant woman who often went to the riverbank to wash clothes. She was notable for her scandalous character, for which she was nicknamed a devil in a skirt.

Vinarna Chertovka is not the narrowest street in the world and its name does not appear in the Guinness Book of Records, but it is in second place after the German Spreuerhofstrasse, walks along it are not an extreme occupation and are not at all life-threatening, and even on the contrary will be presented with a few pleasant moments. But several people here at the same time do not disperse and the movement is possible only in one direction. That's why to avoid troubles during walks and to regulate traffic on Vinarna Certovka there are two real traffic lights, designed only for pedestrians: at the beginning and at the end of the street. Initially planned as a fire passage, the narrowest street in the Czech Republic has become a popular tourist route. Vymoshche The stairs of the Devil take them down directly to the wine restaurant, another attraction of Prague.

The third place for the narrowest street in the world after Germany and the Czech Republic took England, or rather the city of Exeter, where the old Parliament Street, 50 meters long. Its width at the narrowest point is 61 cm, and at its widest - 120 cm. Built in the 14th century with the original name of Small Street and preserved to this day, it deserves special attention. After all, the Parliament Street is the narrowest street in the world from naturally built, not formed as a result of reconstruction of buildings. This is the British Pparliament Street and differs from the German Spreuerhofstrasse and the Czech Vinarna Certovka.
