The most brilliant hero of the "Cherry Orchard" A.P. Chekhov. Characteristics of the characters: "Cherry Orchard"

In the play of interest to us, A.P. Chekhov's system of images is represented by three main groups. Let us consider briefly each of them, after which we will dwell in detail on the image of Lopakhin Ermolai Alekseevich. This hero of the "Cherry Orchard" can be called the brightest character of the play.

Below is a photo of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, the great Russian playwright, the creator of the work we are interested in. The years of his life are 1860-1904. For over a century now, his various plays, especially The Cherry Orchard, Three Sisters and The Seagull, have been staged in many theaters around the world.

People of the Noble Age

The first group of characters are people of the aristocratic era, which goes back to the past. This is Ranevskaya Lyubov Andreevna and Gayev Leonid Andreevich, her brother. These people own a cherry orchard. They are not old by age. Gayev is only 51 years old, and his sister is probably 10 years younger. It can also be assumed that the image of Wari belongs to this group. This is Ranevskaya's adopted daughter. Here also adjoins the image of Firs, the old lackey, who is, as it were, a part of the house and of all the departing life. Such is the general outline of the first group of characters. Of course, this is only a brief description of the characters. "Cherry Orchard" is a work in which each of these characters plays a role, and each of them is interesting in its own way.

The most active person

Very different from these heroes Lopakhin Ermolai Alekseevich, the new owner of the cherry orchard and the whole estate. He can be called the most active person in the work: he is energetic, active, moves steadily towards the goal, which is to buy a garden.

Younger generation

The third group is represented by the younger generation in the person of Ani, the daughter of Lyubov Andreevna, and Peti Trofimov, who is a former teacher of Ranevskaya's son, who recently died. Without mentioning them, there would be incomplete characterization of the characters. "Cherry Orchard" is a play in which these characters are in love. However, they are united, apart from the love feeling, and the aspiration away from the dilapidated values and the whole of old life to a beautiful future, depicted in the speeches of Trofimov as ethereal, though radiant.

The relationship between the three groups of characters

In the play, these three groups are not opposed to each other, although they have different concepts, values. The main characters of the play "The Cherry Orchard" love each other, with all their differences in the world view, show sympathy, regret the failures of others, are even ready to help. The main feature that divides them and determines the future life is the attitude to the cherry orchard. In this case, it is not just part of the estate. This is some value, almost animate person. Throughout the main part of the action, the question of his fate is decided. Therefore, we can say that there is another hero of the "Cherry Orchard", suffering and the most positive. This is the cherry garden itself.

The role of the secondary characters in the play "The Cherry Orchard"

The main characters were presented in general terms. Let's say a few words about other participants in the action in the play. They are not just minor people who need a story. These images are the satellites of the main characters of the work. Each of them carries a certain feature of the protagonist, but only in an exaggerated form.

Proficiency of characters

In the eye rushes different degrees of elaboration of characters in the work "Cherry Orchard". The main characters: Leonid Gayev, and especially Love Ranevskaya - are given to us in the complexity of their experiences, a combination of sins and spiritual virtues, frivolity and kindness. Petya Trofimov and Anya are more targeted than depicted.

Lopakhin - the most brilliant hero of the "Cherry Orchard"

Let us dwell in more detail on the brightest character of the play, which stands apart. This hero of the "Cherry Orchard" is Yermolai Alekseevich Lopakhin. According to Chekhov's description, he is a merchant. The author in the letters to Stanislavsky and Knipper explains that Lopakhin plays a central role. He notes that this character is a gentle person, decent in every sense. He must hold on intelligently, decently, not finely, without any tricks.

Why did the author think that Lopakhin's role in the work is central? Chekhov stressed that he does not look like a typical merchant. We will find out what are the motives for the actions of this character, who can be called the murderer of the cherry orchard. After all, it was he who knocked him out.

The peasant's past

Ermolai Lopakhin does not forget that he is a man. One phrase crashed into his memory. She was uttered by Ranevskaya, comforting him, at that time still a boy, after Lopakhina was beaten by her father. Lyubov Andreevna said: "Do not cry, muzhichok, he will heal before the wedding." Lopakhin can not forget these words.

The hero who interests us is tormented, on the one hand, by the realization of his past, but on the other - he is proud that he managed to get out into people. For former owners, besides, he is a person who can become a benefactor, help them unravel a tangle of insoluble problems.

Lopakhin's attitude to Ranevskaya and Gayev

Every now and then Lopakhin offers Gayev and Ranevskaya various plans for salvation. He talks about the possibility to give their land to the land for dachas, and to cut down the garden, because it is completely useless. Lopakhin is truly upset when he realizes that these heroes of the play "The Cherry Orchard" do not perceive his reasonable words. He does not fit in his head, how can one be so careless at the edge of his own doom. Lopakhin directly says that he did not meet such frivolous, strange, non-business people as Gaev and Ranevskaya (heroes of Chekhov's Cherry Orchard). In his desire to help them, there is not a shadow of cunning. Lopakhin is extremely sincere. Why does he want to help his former masters?

Perhaps, because she remembers what Ranevskaya did for him. He tells her that he loves her as her own. Unfortunately, outside the play remains the good deed of this heroine. However, one can guess that due to the nobility, soft nature, Ranevskaya respected Lopakhin, pitied him. In a word, she behaved like a real aristocrat - noble, cultured, kind, generous. Perhaps, it is the awareness of such an ideal of humanity, its inaccessibility and forces this hero to commit such contradictory acts.

Ranevskaya and Lopakhin are two centers in the work "Cherry Orchard". The images of the characters described by the author are very interesting. The plot develops in such a way that interpersonal relations between them are still not the most important. The first place is that Lopakhin does as if involuntarily, marveling to himself.

How is Lopakhin's personality revealed in the finale of the work?

The third action takes place in the nervous tension. Everyone expects that soon the auction will arrive from Gaev and bring news about the future of the garden. Owners of the estate can not hope for the best, it remains only to rely on a miracle ...

Finally the fateful news is reported: the garden is sold! Ranevskaya as if thunderstruck by the answer to a completely meaningless and helpless question: "Who bought it?" Lopakhin exhales: "I bought it!" This action of Ermolai Alekseyevich solves the future of the heroes of the "Cherry Orchard". It seems that Raevskaya did not expect such a villainy from him. But it turns out that the estate and the garden are the dream of Ermolai Alekseevich's whole life. Lopakhin could not do otherwise. In it, the merchant avenged the peasant and defeated the intellectual. Lopakhin seems to be in hysterics. He does not believe in his own happiness, does not notice Ranevskaya, who was heartbroken.

Everything happens according to his passionate desire, but against his will, because a minute later, seeing the unfortunate Ranevskaya, the merchant suddenly utters words that contradict his delight a minute earlier: "My poor, good, you will not return now ..." But already the next moment The former man and merchant in Lopakhin raise their heads and shout: "Music, play distinctly!"

Petty Trofimov's Attitude to Lopakhin

Petya Trofimov talks about Lopakhin that he needs it "In the sense of the exchange of matter," as a predatory beast, eating what will be on its way. But suddenly Trofimov, who dreams about the just organization of society and assigns the role of the exploiter to Ermolai Alekseevich, says in the fourth act that he loves him for his "delicate, tender soul." Characteristics of Lopakhin is a combination of predator harnesses with a gentle soul.

The contradictory character of Ermolai Alekseevich

He passionately craves purity, beauty, stretches to the culture. In the work Lopakhin is the only acting person who appears with a book in his hand. Although, while reading it, this hero falls asleep, other characters do not hold books at all during the play. However, it is stronger merchant's calculation, common sense, the terrestrial beginning. Realizing that the garden is beautiful, experiencing the possession of pride, Lopakhin hastens at the same time to cut it down and arrange everything according to his own understanding of happiness.

Ermolai Alekseevich argues that the summer resident will multiply in 20 years before the extraordinary. While he only drinks tea on the balcony. But one day it may happen that he will take up his household on his tithing. Then the cherry garden of Ranevskaya and Gayev will become luxurious, rich, happy. But Lopakhin is mistaken in this. The summerman is not the kind of person who will store and multiply the beauty that he has inherited. His mentality is purely practical, predatory. He excludes from the value system all impractical things, including culture. Therefore Lopakhin decides to cut down the garden. This merchant, who has a "subtle soul", does not realize the main thing: one can not cut the roots of culture, memory, beauty.

The meaning of A.P. Chekhov's "Cherry Orchard"

The intelligentsia of a serf, submissive, downtrodden slave created a talented, free, creatively active person. However, she herself was dying, and her creation - with her, since without a root a person can not exist. "Cherry Orchard" is a drama about the loss of spiritual roots. This ensures its relevance at any time.

The play by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov shows the attitude of people towards what is happening at the turn of the epoch events. This was the time when the capitalization of society and the death of Russian feudalism took place. Such transitions from one socio-economic formation to another are always accompanied by the death of the weak, intensified by the struggle of various groups for survival. Lopakhin in the play is a representative of people of a new type. Gaev and Ranevskaya are characters of an obsolete epoch that are no longer able to match the changes that are taking place, to fit in with them. Therefore, they are doomed to failure.
