The mesh python is the largest snake in the world

People, trying to offend the interlocutor, sometimes call it a reptile, a viper, a snake, a cobra , referring to the presence of these reptiles with deadly venom, aggressive behavior and irritability. These reptiles in the period of laying and guarding their nests can even rush to their own shadow - so inadequately becomes their behavior.

However, no one ever compares a man, resentment, with such a very formidable representative of the suborder of snakes, like a python. And yet, this predator is no less dangerous. Perhaps this is because even the largest snake - mesh python - rarely attacks a person. The size of a person does not allow him to swallow it. To tear the victim to pieces and chew food python is not capable. Teeth are used by reptiles only to hold the victim.

It feeds on the largest snake in adulthood birds, lizards, toads, rabbits, jackals, can hardly swallow roe deer, antelope, monkey, a small crocodile. If the production is too large, the python can regurgitate it. In connection with the fact that the largest snake chooses a diet, relying only on the dimensions of a living being, its victim may well be a child or a person of small stature.

The jaws of the python are extremely mobile, the mouth has the property of stretching, which allows it to "stretch" over the killed victim like a stocking on the leg. After the extraction is inside it, the predator falls into a state of hibernation: it digests food and practically does not move at this time. If the reptile was lucky enough to eat a wild boar or roe deer, "rest" can last up to 40 days.

The color of the snakes is very diverse, their back can be covered with such a unique ornament that you involuntarily think: "Did not they draw pictures for the luxurious carpets of carpet weavers?"

Usually this subspecies of snakes reaches in length from four to eight meters, but sometimes it can grow up to a dozen meters. For example, the largest snake in the world - a mesh python - was caught in Indonesia. Her weight was 447 kg, and the length was 14.85 m. This monster does not worth swallowing a cow or a man! One look is enough to cause any living creature to panic.

The area of distribution of the mesh python includes Africa (south of the Sahara Desert), South and South-East Asia. Prefer these creeping cold-blooded settle in the savannahs, tropical and subtropical forests near the ponds. After all, a big snake-python loves to swim and stay in the water for a long time. They can creep beautifully through the trees.

Pythons differ from their close relatives - boas - in that they are oviparous reptiles. Female mesh python can lay more than one hundred eggs at a time. Its clutch is protected by a python female, wrapping around the eggs with a ring. If necessary, the mother can even, by contracting the muscles of the body, increase her temperature in order to warm the future offspring. So cold-blooded by nature, the Python female is difficult to blame for a cold-blooded attitude towards her children.
