The low-mobility population groups are who?

It happens that a person is difficult to move around. This can happen for a variety of reasons. And the manifestations of the way of life can also differ. But all people who have problems with movement are united by one term - the low-mobile groups of the population. This is not necessarily disabled. To this category can belong and simply people who are temporarily deprived of the opportunity to fully move. Let's take a closer look at this population group.

Signs of low mobility groups

Any groups identified as the subject of the work of social workers and institutions involved in social policy have a number of characteristics by which their members are united. Such are also in the less mobile groups. If not all of their members are people with disabilities, what are the characteristics of such groups? Mobility groups are those categories of the population that must be something united.

  1. A small ability to move is the main characteristic characteristic of these groups. There are a lot of reasons. It can be various violations, and pregnancy or walking with a stroller.
  2. The need for social support. These populations are initially more vulnerable than other segments of the population. Therefore, they need to receive additional assistance, and the urban infrastructure must be redesigned in such a way as to provide the most comfortable living conditions for members of these groups. Unfortunately, in Russia this is not.
  3. The need for non-discrimination. In general, the Russian society is considered intolerant. This concerns not only religious, racial intolerance, but also an initially negative attitude towards people with special needs. For example, the same disabled person will find it much harder to get a job, which he can perform. The same applies to pensioners.

Such three main features are the low-mobile groups of the population. This is a very broad concept, which includes a lot of people. Naturally, they are characterized by a larger number. But these points provide a fairly broad profile of these social layers.

Who is classified as a low-mobility group?

The low-mobility groups of the population are a fairly broad category of citizens, which includes:

  • Disabled. In spite of the fact that the locomotor system is responsible for movement, not only its diseases make a person immobile. If he does not see well, a poor orientation in space can also prevent him from moving fully.
  • Pregnant women. This category is considered to be a little mobile, as wearing a fetus in the womb is not an easy task. Consequently, a pregnant woman can not run, and even moves on serious terms is quite difficult.
  • Pensioners. This is a potentially sick category of citizens. Among pensioners, the percentage of disabled people is much higher, as they are prone to diseases. Even if a pensioner has not registered a disability, he may have diseases that limit his ability to move. In this case, auxiliary means, such as a cane or crutches, are used. The speed of movement with them is much less. Running with a cane will be at the level of fast walking in a healthy person.
  • Children of preschool age. Low mobility is provoked by the fact that they have not yet learned to walk or can not fully orient themselves in space without the help of their parents.

This includes other categories of the population. Persons with disabilities and low mobility groups of the population are sometimes a very big difference. This is especially true for young children, who are simply not so developed yet. But disability can sometimes remain for life.

Social policy for low-mobile groups

What can the state do for this population?

  • Introduce benefits.
  • Provide the city with a system of hospitals and polyclinics near the house.
  • Additional designs to facilitate entry into the room (a kind of rails for wheelchairs and so on).
  • Giving a pension.
  • Install traffic lights for the blind.

And a number of other measures are actively used in the social policy of our country.

Adaptation of low-mobile groups

And how such people adapt to movement? It all depends on which category of people belong to. Since the low-mobile groups include completely different representatives, the mechanisms for their adaptation to life can differ substantially. Here are just some examples:

  1. Children can move with the help of their parents.
  2. Blind people can use a special cane, which allows them to recognize the structure of the landscape and bypass pits and obstacles. The guide dog is also actively used.

And a number of other similar examples can be cited.
