The original scenario of the film did not suit the director. He wanted the theme of the new picture to be as little as possible reminiscent of the series about "Aliens". So he invited Damon Lindelof, the screenwriter of the series "Staying Alive".

Filming

The geography of the filming of the film "Prometheus", reviews of which viewers and critics are contradictory, is very extensive. Production began in Canada, in Toronto. Plot

Millions of years ago, on a barren planet, one of the Creators - representatives of the alien race - sacrifices himself, drinking fluid that destroys his body to DNA molecules. In the waters of the ocean after his death, living cells are formed.

At the end of the 21st century, scientists find ancient rock paintings. On them, people worship high humanoid beings pointing at the stars. Archaeologists Shaw and Holloway are confident that the pictographs show a map of the starry sky and with its help one can calculate the location of the aliens who visited the Earth in antiquity. They also believe that extraterrestrial beings gave life to all living things in our world. Peter Weiland, the head of a powerful corporation, organizes a space expedition to the planet of the Creators. The research ship Prometheus arrives at LV-223, a base of aliens.

Scientists discover an ancient structure here and explore one of them. Inside the crew members find the remains of huge humanoid creatures. The activated hologram shows that they were running away from some kind of danger. In one of the rooms, scientists discovered a multitude of cylinders filled with a black liquid. Android David secretly takes one container. On the ship, he mixes the liquid from the alien cylinder into Holloway's glass, and he drinks it.

Lost in a huge structure, two crew members are attacked by snake-like creatures that mutated from local worms due to the black fluid from the cylinders. While scientists are looking for the missing comrades, David finds a control room. The structure turns out to be a giant space ship with a cargo of containers. The Android recognizes that the final destination of the ship was Earth. In one of the cryocapsules he finds a living Creator.

"Prometheus" - the prequel of "Alien"?

Back in 2002, Scott planned to make a film that would reveal to the audience the secret of the appearance of the race of Aliens. In the first part of the series, the "Nostromo" towing vehicle is found by an alien ship, whose crew died in a fight with xenomorphs. It was logical to assume that the creators of the film will show the history of this ship. But in 2009, Ridley Scott said that he revised the concept of the picture. He abandoned the idea of the prequel and decided that "Prometheus" (reviews about the film can be seen below) will be an independent picture. However, he left a connection with the universe of Aliens and disclosed, as promised earlier, the secret of their origin.

Actors and roles

Interestingly, in one of the main roles in the film, Ridley Scott wanted to see Leonardo DiCaprio. He even postponed filming for the actor, but then he abandoned the idea. But even without DiCaprio, the cast of Prometheus is not bad.

Archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw was played by Swedish actress Numi Rapas. To the audience she is known for her participation in the film "Sherlock Holmes: The Game of Shadows". The actress thought over the story of Shaw's life for greater persuasiveness. This role was also played by such star performers as Natalie Portman, but the director opted for Rapas.

The head of the expedition, Maridith Vickers, was played by the brilliant Charlize Theron. Her character is a cold, calculating person who quickly makes complex decisions. It is interesting that almost simultaneously the actress had to play harsh and strong women in two scenes: Prometheus and Mad Max. For this role, except for Theron, plan to invite Angelina Jolie.
