The DT-54 tractor is the chief Soviet farmer with good technical data

The Soviet caterpillar tractor DT-54 (photo presented on the page) was created in 1949 at a factory in Kharkov. Serial production of a new agricultural machinery was established there. The DT-54 tractor was produced at the Khartsyzsk Tractor Works from 1949 to 1961. Another production facility was opened at the Stalingrad Tractor Plant, where the machine was produced in approximately the same quantity. In the difficult post-war years, the USSR agriculture needed technical equipment. The third batch production was organized at the Altai plant, where the DT-54 tractor was manufactured from 1952 to 1979. A total of 959,900 units were built at three plants.

A bit of history

The DT-54 tractor was a successful development on the basis of the outdated AZTZ-NATI model, with a lot of new technical solutions and application of modern technologies. The design of the car is quite perfect, the diesel engine is economical, the oil consumption and diesel fuel does not exceed the lower limits of the established operational standards. In the motor, the first system of centrifugal oil purification was used by using special chambers in crankshaft crankpins.

The same principle was followed by an oil centrifuge, combined with a regular filter. The drain plug for waste oil from the crankcase was a powerful magnet collecting small metal particles. All these measures significantly extended the engine's engine life.

On the tractor was installed a dual-band driving belt, through which to five main gears were added ten more. This device made it possible to select the optimal load on the engine and to maintain its efficiency.

The rear axle was equipped with separate control of rotary clutches and brakes, which greatly facilitated the control of the machine. Until 1956, there was no such division. At the same time, tape-type brakes were introduced, operating in both directions. The effectiveness of the slowing mechanisms has greatly increased.

disadvantages

One of the drawbacks of the DT-54 was the friction of the tracked tracks on the final transfer case. In this regard, installed special intermediate lining, which both stabilized the direction of the track and played the role of a lining between the caterpillar and the crankcase. These innovations were also applied in 1956. At the same time, the trailing device was improved , the bracket of which was lengthened, reinforced with a transverse stripe, and the earring was made wider for a larger diameter finger. Now, any hitch is securely attached to the tractor.

Modernization

In 1952, the engine was equipped with a special meter, keeping track of the time during which the engine was running. Thus, the tractor's idle run was excluded or its use was not for its intended purpose. The counter was sealed in the beginning of the work, his readings were taken after the end of the working day.

After 1956, the transmission of the crankshaft rotation was perfected, which functioned peripherally. Near the main shaft, which was fed to the transfer case, an additional slotted cylinder was rotated, to which it was possible to connect a special coupling connecting the transmission with a "quasi" transmission. Additional attachments, which were supposed to be used at the moment and which were equipped with its own rotation mechanism, were connected to the power take-off shaft.

In the standard order, the power take-off mechanisms were not included in the package, but they could be installed on a separate request from the buyer. Such an addition was expensive, but consumers realized how useful this device was, and did not take into account the costs. At the same time it was possible to install a drive pulley on the tractor, which also made it possible to draw power for peripheral equipment, but only by means of a belt drive.

DT-54 tractor: specifications

The main functions of DT-54 were to work in complex with a four or five-section plow. Traction characteristics allowed to plow the land of any density. In addition, the tractor DT-54 could interact with a number of additional trailing devices.

The range of thrust of a powerful machine was 1200 - 2850 kg, which made it possible for its wide application. Operating speeds of the machine ranged from 3.58 to 7.8 km / h, the transmission had five front gears and one rear. The diesel engine at a rated speed of 1300 rpm developed power of 54 hp, this was enough for any field work.

Weight and overall parameters

  • Full weight - 5400 kg.
  • Length with trailing mechanism - 3660 mm.
  • The height is 2300 mm.
  • The width is 1865 mm.
  • Ground clearance, clearance - 260 mm.
  • Distance between the axles - (extreme rollers) 1622 mm.
  • The track in the middle of the track is 1435 mm.
  • Pressure on the soil, specific - 0.41 kg / cm 2 .
  • The capacity of the fuel tank is 185 cm / cu.

Modeling

The agricultural universal machine DT-54 refers to those rare technical means that arouse keen interest among collectors. The DT-54 tractor model is being created everywhere and is quite common. The quality of the product is usually high, since the modellers use the latest technology.
