Protopik - cream, which, judging by the opinions of consumers, is a means of effective, almost not causing side effects. The drug is included in the category of local anti-inflammatory drugs. Protopik - ointment of white (slightly yellowish) color, homogeneous consistency. The active ingredient is tacrolimus monohydrate.

Protopic instructions recommend the use in the treatment of atopic dermatitis. Children from two to sixteen years are prescribed a dosage of 0.03%, adults - from 0.03% to 0.1%. The drug is used for atopic dermatitis in severe and moderate severity forms with resistance (persistence) pathology to other drugs for external use or the presence of contraindications to them.

Protopic instructions do not recommend prescribing for pregnancy, intolerance to macrolides and components of the drug, lactation.

Do not prescribe medication to patients with disorders in the epidermal barrier of a genetic nature (Netherton syndrome), generalized erythroderma (in view of the high risk of progressive enhancement of the systemic absorption of the active ingredient, tacrolimus).

With caution, the drug is used in patients with decompensated liver failure, lesions of the skin of extensive areas, especially for a long time, in children.

For patients older than two years, the protopipe instruction recommends applying a thin layer to the affected areas of the cover.

Children from two to sixteen years are prescribed a two-time use of 0.03% of the drug per day. The duration of therapy should not be more than twenty-one days. Subsequently, the frequency of use of the agent is reduced to once a day. Therapy recommends Protopic to continue until complete elimination of the lesion.

The drug can be used for periodic therapeutic courses or for a short time. As practice shows, improvements on the skin are noted after the first week of use. In the absence of therapeutic efficacy for fourteen days from the start of the drug should be revised treatment tactics, considering other options for impact on the lesions.

When signs of exacerbation of the pathology should be consulted with the doctor. In such cases, as a rule, the resumption of treatment is necessary.

Most often, after using the protopak on the skin (on the application site), signs of irritation (redness, itching, burning, rashes, and pain) appear. As practice shows, these adverse reactions have a weakly expressed character and are eliminated after the initiation of therapy throughout the week.

Often patients report intolerance of alcohol on the background of treatment. It appears reddening on the face, irritation after drinking alcohol-containing drinks.

The use of protopica may increase the risk of herpes infection, acne, folliculitis.

When using topical cases of overdose in clinical practice are not described.

Ingestion of the ointment involves the implementation of generally accepted measures, including ensuring the control of vital functions in the body. Rinsing of the stomach or provoking artificial vomiting is not recommended.

Do not apply the drug to patients with acquired or congenital immunodeficiency and patients taking immunosuppressive drugs. Apply ointment to affected areas, considered as pre-malignant or potentially malignant, is contraindicated.

When applying the drug, occlusal dressings are not recommended , nor should it be worn tight clothing that does not allow air to pass through.

In case of signs of infection, it is necessary to conduct appropriate treatment before the appointment of a protopake.
