The drug "Nazol" is a vasoconstrictive drug used locally. It is prescribed for the treatment of acute rhinitis, having a different etiology.

This element is an imidazoline derivative and is secreted synthetically. This substance can create a long vasoconstrictive effect. In addition, the effect of the drug is aimed at reducing swelling and facilitating breathing through the nose in case of rhinitis. Also, the active element reduces the excessive accumulation of blood in the vessels located in the paranasal sinuses and mucous membrane.

The drug "Nazol", the instruction to which describes the mechanism of its action, is able to stimulate the function of alpha-adrenoreceptors. As a result of this process, the vascular permeability in the nasal mucosa decreases. Reducing the amount of incoming blood reduces edema of the mucous membranes in the eustachian tube, paranasal sinuses and in the nose. In addition, the substances contained in the preparation contribute to the process of moistening. They also prevent drying and irritation that may occur in the nasal mucosa. The main active substance, which is absorbed into the bloodstream, is excreted in its original form with feces and urine.

The drug "Nazol", the instruction to which gives the main indications for use, is prescribed as a monotherapeutic agent. Also, the drug can be recommended in conjunction with other medicines. It is prescribed for the elimination of rhinitis, which is acute (including those that occur during influenza, allergies and viral pathologies). It is recommended to use the drug in complex treatment for otitis media. The drug "Nazol" is prescribed for preventive measures, as well as for the treatment of edema of the mucous membranes of the paranasal sinuses and nose, including those arising after surgery by the surgeon. Also, the drug is prescribed for edema of the conjunctiva, which are allergic or non-infectious. The drug is also used when getting rid of hay fever. Long-term use of the drug may cause the development of tachyphylaxis, hyperemia and atrophy of the nasal mucosa. When injected into the conjunctiva, its irritations are possible, as well as retraction of the eyelid and increased pressure within the eye. Each patient should have an individual package of the drug in order to avoid the spread of infection.

Contraindicated taking medication with individual sensitivity to its components, if the patient has vascular and heart disease, as well as kidney failure. This remedy is not prescribed for hypertrophy of the prostate, as well as thyrotoxicosis.
