The beginning of World War II: fascist Germany

When the First World War ended, Germany was not in the most enviable position. The Treaty of Versailles imposed a huge indemnity on her, and, moreover, she was forbidden to possess a large army. The country was covered by an extremely deep economic and political crisis, and in the current situation the population expected the appearance of a person capable of regaining the former greatness of the state. This was taken advantage of by the quickly caught the mood of the public leader of the National Socialist Party Adolf Hitler. He did not shy away from any means in achieving his goals, and the main one was the complete and unconditional seizure of power in the country. And the first thing that needed to be done was to destroy the opposition than Hitler did. As a result, all who tried to resist, were sent to concentration camps without any court and investigation. So fascist Germany gradually but surely began its existence. Massive persecution of foreigners, in particular Jews, began. Do not escape the purge and own party: this process is known in history as a "night of long knives." Thus, such party leaders as Strasser, Rem, von Car and many others were physically eliminated. They were charged in an attempted coup.

In 1934, Hitler was given the authority of the president, as well as the title of leader of the "Third Reich". A SS appeared, the so-called guard detachments. In 1935 the legislation of fascist Germany was supplemented by the Nuremberg racial laws, which deprived people of Jewish origin of the citizenship of this country.

The Treaty of Versailles was violated, the armed forces and the latest weapons began to be created in the country: Hitler was deliberately preparing for war. The main European powers were intensely pretending not to notice this, because they expected that Nazi Germany would be strong enough to stop the growing power of the Soviet Union.

In the same year, 1935, England signed a naval pact with Germany, and in 1936 Hitler made an alliance with Mussolini, the fascist leader of Italy. In March 1938, Hitler intervened in the military-political affairs of Austria, which soon he occupied. England and France were forced to give their consent to the partition of Czechoslovakia. After that, fascist Germany "tidied up" its western part.

With the Soviet Union on August 23, 1939, a non-aggression pact was concluded, but with the condition of the partition of Poland, the attack on which occurred on September 1, 1939 . This was the beginning of World War II. Then within two years Scandinavia, France, Yugoslavia and Greece were occupied. Hitler's goal was more than "modest": to capture the whole of Europe, and then the whole world. According to Hitler's plan, many peoples, including Jews and Russians, were to be either completely obliterated from the face of the earth or become slaves of the Aryan nation. However, after Europe was conquered, the USSR stood on Hitler's path: he could not allow the establishment of a fascist dictatorship in Germany to spread all over the world.

The terrible consequences of the Second World War led to the fact that the overwhelming majority of formerly belligerent countries rallied in order to prevent new military conflicts. There was a need to create an effective system of collective security. Thus, in April 1945, the United Nations (UN) was established . One of the political consequences of the war was the defeat of the grouping of aggressive fascist powers, whose goal was not only the redistribution of the whole world, but also the liquidation of other states, the enslavement and even the complete annihilation of certain peoples (genocide). Fascist Germany as one of the hotbeds of militarism completely disappeared, but a new political international configuration emerged, which was based on two centers of gravity, the Western and Eastern opposing blocs, which grew stronger as a result of the war between the USSR and the USA. Communism, which was originally a so-called political phenomenon, had no more local character: almost half a century it became one of the determining factors of world development.
