Hero of Russia Irina Yanina: the way of life, the description of heroism

In the internal troops, the "Kalach" brigade is respected. Housed in Volgograd in the town of Kalach-na-Donu, it has repeatedly taken part in the fighting in the North Caucasus. About it they say: "Baking". Five of its members were awarded the Star of Hero of Russia. Among them, the only woman in the history of the participation of federal forces in local conflicts - Irina Yanina, a nurse, a sergeant of internal troops.

The involuntary refugee

The native of the city of Taldy-Kurgan, Irina, born in 1966, lived with her family in Kazakhstan before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Here she married, gave birth to two children. After graduating from the school she was engaged in the most peaceful profession on earth - she worked as a nurse in the maternity hospital. But the 90s came that made Russians in Kazakhstan alien. And the family council decided to move to Russia. So Irina Yanina with her parents and children was in the Volgograd region.

In a small town they were not expected. I had to start everything from scratch: rent housing, get a job, register citizenship. The first could not stand her husband. He left, leaving his wife with children without means of subsistence. To somehow support the family, the young woman wore a military uniform, settling in 1995 at military unit 3642. By that time, the youngest daughter had died from acute leukemia. Irina just needed to do business in order to survive the grief. Guaranteed wages, rations and benefits to servicemen determined her choice.

"We will conquer and I will come home ..."

Together with the native 22nd Brigade ("Kalach") in 1996 Irina Yanina visited Chechnya. During the first campaign there will be two such trips. In total, in war, a young woman will have to spend 3.5 months performing the duties of a nurse. Seeing death in your eyes is a difficult test. But for her it was a way to somehow solve her social problems. A dream was born - to earn a son for an apartment so that he did not know the difficulties that her family faced.

The second Chechen campaign began with Dagestan. The Basayev gangs and Khattab mercenaries, supported by the Islamists of the Kadar zone, moved here. In July 1999, the transfer of special forces and detachments of explosives began in Makhachkala to prevent the incitement of civil war in the republic. Already on August 7 Chechen separatists entered Botlikh. The federal forces were tasked to drive them to the territory of Chechnya. As part of the evacuation team of the Kalach brigade, the young woman was again at war. This trip was for her the most difficult. Life in the field was difficult. And in a letter to her parents, on which she left her eleven-year-old son, a young woman wrote that she wanted to go home. She wished she had left the service. These were moments of weakness, after which Irina promised: "We will win and I will come home."

The Battle for Karamakhi

In mid-August, the Dagestani Karamakhi village with its 5,000-strong population joined the Islamist republic. Having expelled the local authorities and put up roadblocks, it soon turned into an impregnable fortress. Here, a group of militants (about 500 people), led by field commander Jarullah, was entrenched. Peace talks with the Wahhabis did not yield results. And on the 28th the federal troops began shelling the settlement, which was followed by internal troops and the Dagestani OMON. The militants let in armored personnel carriers to slam the trap and destroy the special forces. This caused the beginning of a combined-arms operation. Local residents in a hurry left the village, which will be completely occupied by the feds only on September 8. In the bloody battles for the sweeping of Karamakhi, the "Kalach" brigade took part, in which Irina Ianina helped the wounded soldiers.

Death in battle

It is August 31. On the last day of summer, the 1st battalion entered the outskirts of the village, where militants were waiting for them, arranging a real carnage. To help the commander of the 22nd Brigade sent three armored personnel carriers. In one of them, besides the shooter and the gunner, was Irina Yanina Yanina, a nurse. It provided for the evacuation of the seriously wounded. Already having helped 15 fighters, she picked up those who could not move independently from bullets. Three times leaving in the most hell, she saved another 28 comrades, going for the rest for the fourth time.

Among them will be those who will owe it their lives. During the loading, the young woman picked up a machine to cover the evacuation of the wounded. Leaving the battlefield, the BTR was knocked out of the ATGM. The missile caused a fire, the driver fainted. Irina helped to get out the wounded, but she did not have time to save herself. The sonic booster set broke off the life of a 32-year-old nurse who performed her military duty. And for ordinary Lyadov IA, Golneva SV and captain Krivtsov AL, the August day of the 31st day will be the second birthday.

From memories of colleagues

Medical Officer Larissa Mozzhukhina remembers her friend as a cheerful and sympathetic person, always ready to help. Her death shocked everyone. The remains of the young woman fit into a small handkerchief - so merciless was the war.

Corporal Kulakov was the driver of an armored personnel carrier, where Irina Yanina was burned alive. After hitting the projectile, he recovered only when he and the nurse remained in the car. Going through the hatch from her side, he tried to pull out a young woman. But because of the broken discharge, it fell on the asphalt. The car dragged forward a few meters, and after a minute the ammunition exploded.

Sosluzhivets Andrey Trusov recalls that during the forty days of a piece of dust Irina Yana's friends took with them, as if after death, a heroic nurse could help at the most difficult moment.

Sergeant VV Irina Yanina - Hero of Russia

In October, by decree of the President for fighting against terrorists in Dagestan and manifested courage during the operation to clean Karamaha Yanina was awarded the Star of Hero of Russia. She will forever remain the only woman to receive such a high award for her participation in the military conflict in the North Caucasus.

Her son turned 27. Evgeni works in the same military unit where his mother served. He still reread her letters from the war and tries to understand where in the usual fragile woman there was so much sense of duty and sacrifice. Raised by his grandparents, he always had before his eyes the example of a mother who was used to being proud.

Since 2007, on the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland, the country is returning to their feat, holding festive events for the celebration of the living and the commemoration of the fallen. In 2012, in memory of some of them were issued stamps. Irina Yanina is also photographed on one, her photo is difficult to find and see nowadays.
