The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict can not be settled peacefully
The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict arose because of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. Even in Soviet times this land belonged to the Azerbaijan Republic. Only the USSR has not existed for more than 20 years, and the problem has remained unsolved until now. And so far it's standing still. The heads of the states applying for this territory can not agree among themselves, but what can we say about the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Karabakh conflict
This opposition began in the distant 80-ies, when Armenians began to ask the government to give Karabakh under the authority of Armenia. The Azerbaijanis, who lived in this territory, protested. Everyone started pulling the blanket over. That's where the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict flared up, which has not abated until now. Shootings occur regularly on this territory. Attempts to reconcile citizens who were almost equally in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh were useless.
Perhaps, because of the obstinacy of both states, the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict does not move from the dead end. 1992 was marked as the peak of confrontation, and the republic became one of the hotspots of the East. The war between the residents of the republic of Nagorno-Karabakh began. Armenia and Azerbaijan received armed support from Russia, which tried to control the conflict in this way. And only when in 1994 Russian peacekeepers entered the territory of Karabakh, military operations ceased.
Modern ways to solve the problem
The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is far from being resolved at the moment. The territory of Nagorno-Karabakh still officially belongs to Azerbaijan, and they extort Armenians from the official and legal acceptance of citizenship, otherwise they demand to leave the country. A few months ago, an Armenian soldier died in the confrontation zone. This caused the conflict to ignite with renewed vigor. Sometimes fire between the troops ignites.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan announced that he will support the solution of this problem only through negotiations. If Azerbaijan provokes military actions, they will go far beyond the borders of the territory of such a state as Nagorno-Karabakh. It is impossible to admit a conflict of this magnitude, according to Sargsyan, since this will entail huge human sacrifices. But the Azerbaijani government categorically refuses to negotiate and insists on a military solution to the problem.
