The town of Strunino is located in the Vladimir region of Russia (Alexandrovsky district). It is located north-west of the main administrative center. The distance from Vladimir is about 130 km. Occupies an area of 10 km 2 . Strunino (Vladimir region) received the status of the city in 1938. Officially, the date of foundation is not established. According to some historical sources, the city was first mentioned in 1492, and in ancient annals it was said that in 1240 Prince Alexander Nevsky was passing through these lands.

origin of name

There is also no reliable information about the origin of the name. Presumably it is believed that it originated from the surname of one resident, who in the XVII century, Tsar Alexander Mikhailovich handed the letter of ownership of the estate.

A bit of history

Prior to obtaining the status of the town, Strunino was a small village, inhabited by a little more than 100 people. They mainly engaged in farming, weaving, making wooden kitchen utensils.

In the second half of the 19th century, the foundation of a textile factory was laid on the coast of two rivers, which in the Soviet years was the Fifth October Combine. By that time, about 16 thousand people lived in the city, of which more than 4 thousand worked in this factory.

Also on the verge of the twentieth century in Strunino (Vladimir region) we began to develop infrastructure. A school was built, a hospital (for 50 beds), a church, a bathhouse and a park, which is now known as the "Dubka Ore".

During the Second World War, more than 1,500 employees of the weaving factory left to fight. And the remaining staff contributed a lot to the army. At the enterprise, cloth was woven for the uniform of soldiers.

Climatic features

The town of Strunino (Vladimir Region) is located on the Smolensk-Moscow Upland (part of the Russian Plain). The relief here is mainly represented by a combination of plains and hills. However, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, this place of rest for schoolchildren was closed. Believers insisted on the return of the temple, and in the mid-90's it was restored. In this church there are three chapels: the central one - the Transfiguration of the Lord, the right one - the holy martyrs of the Faith, Hope, Love and Sophia, the left one - St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In addition, in the city there is a temple of the Blessed Virgin, built of wood. In 1988 he was transformed from a prayer house.

In Strunino, Vladimir region, a chapel was built in the former city cemetery, which was destroyed at the end of the 19th century by half. She was undermined and tried to be demolished from the basement, but she remained standing, only slightly tilted to the side. At present, the chapel has not changed much. The Orthodox place is not completely abandoned, because sometimes believers come here and bring flowers. The people call it the "indestructible chapel".

Another attraction of the town of Strunino in the Vladimir region is the Botanical Garden "The Oaklands of Dubki". In the past, a park was established on this site, and at the end of the 20th century - a protected area for the protection of local flora and fauna. The area of the territory is about 55 hectares. Here you can find such trees, which are more than 100 years old.
