Stomatitis in a child: treatment at home, recommendations
If you compile a list of the most common childhood diseases, then stomatitis will take place in it an honorable place in the top ten. Sooner or later, most of the kids face this unpleasant ailment. The reasons can be very different, but the manifestations are similar in many ways: pain, loss of appetite (due to the fact that it is very painful for the baby to eat), deterioration in overall well-being, sores and redness on the mucosa. The submandibular lymph nodes may increase, the temperature may rise.
Folk treatment of stomatitis in children often helps to overcome the disease more quickly, but the diagnosis should be established by a doctor, because with different types of ailment, therapy can be radically different. But much depends on the actions of parents. So, if a pediatrician (dentist) diagnosed a stomatitis in a child, treatment at home should be rinsed, anesthetized and lubricated with special medications. In addition, some medicines may be used.
With such a disease as a child's stomatitis, treatment at home necessarily includes regular rinses. The main rule: there should not be food leftovers in the mouth! You can prepare a decoction of chamomile, calendula or oak cortex, you can use the pharmacy (such as the drug "Stomatidin" and a number of others), in extreme cases you can use boiled water. To rinse it is necessary after each meal, and also in breaks between them (approximately every 1.5-3 hours).
With such a disease as stomatitis in a child, treatment at home must necessarily be agreed with the doctor. Most often, children have a viral (herpetic or aphthous) stomatitis, in which antibiotics are simply useless. However, in some cases, a bacterial infection joins, and then the treatment tactics change. In addition, children often have a specific kind of this disease - angular stomatitis, which is better known as "jaundice."
Of the traditional methods of treatment can be mentioned also the lubrication of the wound with the juice of aloe and honey. In no case can not smear a small mouth with solutions containing alcohol (green, iodine, etc.), because they can burn a delicate mucous membrane.
