"Blue Velvet" - a story about the demons hidden in the soul of each

The criminal thriller "Blue velvet" has received 17 awards at various international film festivals, but even nowadays indignation and righteous rage arouse in the souls of the sanctimonious viewers-puritan. The reasons for this perception of the film are plot twists and turns. And the narrative of the picture begins with the fact that the main character, the young man Jeffrey Beaumont, returns to his native, at first glance, respectable and gracious town of Lamberton. The fact that his father is in hospital after an acute attack of incomprehensible disease, and until now doctors have not established a specific diagnosis. In desire to disperse from gloomy thoughts, the main character goes for a walk along the deserted outskirts and suddenly finds a real human ear. The young man hastens to report a terrible find to the local police officer Williams and gets acquainted with his daughter Sandy, who showed no curiosity about his accidental discovery. Young people during the conversation find out that, perhaps, this incident has to do with the local babe, the singer of the cabaret Dorothy, whose key number, the song "Blue Velvet", drives all the men in the district mad. Jeffrey, led by youthful maximalism, could not resist the temptation to carry out an independent investigation and uncover the whole life of the fatal temptress. So he will face a scumbag Frank Booth with sadomasochistic inclinations, experience the pernicious influence of a vicious passion for Dorothy, offend Sandy in love with him.

A curtsey towards Maestro Alfred Hitchcock

The filmmaker David Lynch tried to follow strictly certain traditions of the genre of the "black film", psychological thriller and suspense while shooting the film "Blue velvet", and the verified development of the story line involuntarily sends the viewer to the creations of Alfred Hitchcock. In this case, Lynch boldly introduces the features of a tough melodrama, forcing the protagonist to make an unbearable, painful choice between the inexorable attraction to a sexy woman-riddle and relations with a cute but common girl. What a sin to conceal, any person can not overcome an inexplicable craving for a sense of danger, all the mysterious, acute sensations, because it allows, albeit for a short time, to introduce diversity into a gray tedious routine.
As a true skillful stylist, Lynch comes very close to the vaunted aesthetics of postmodernism, as if turning out specific genre canons, while mocking over the aesthetic aesthetics of reality, and this is helped by a curtain of blue velvet.

"Blue velvet" - the progenitor of "Twin Peaks"

In my humble opinion, "Blue velvet" is a film created with a certain maniacal inspiration, but, unfortunately, all of its demonic-mystical aureole in the course of action dissipates like a morning fog. Although something to be surprised, because faith in the mystical source of evil is not particularly needed, the person himself is fully capable of all sorts of evil. It is only worth thinking about: the 1986 film "Blue Velvet" was unveiled by the unanimous decision of famous film critics to become the real progenitor of the cult mystic series "Twin Peaks".
