St. Helena is a land forgotten by God
St. Helena is located in the Atlantic Ocean, between South America and Africa. Territory officially belongs to Great Britain, the island is subject to the English Queen Elizabeth II. Governor governs it. The islands of St. Helena are one of the most beautiful and at the same time remote and deaf places on the planet. There is no airport, so you can only get by sea. The island is a small piece of land, surrounded on all sides by an immense ocean. The closest land is the island of Ascension, which is located in the northwest at 1125 km from St. Helena.
As already noted, it is possible to get to the island only by sea, here the only vessel that flies to this place 22 times a year goes. If sent from the UK, the voyage will take about two weeks, if from Cape Town - no more than 5 days. The island was opened in 1502 by the Portuguese João da Nova. They wanted to master this territory as the British and the Dutch, but still the first won.
Previously, St. Helena was a volcano, to this day in the south extinct volcanoes, rising to a height of 818 meters. Most of the territory is occupied by bushes and meadows. The most common trees are cypresses, eucalyptus and fir. The population of the island varies in the region of five and a half thousand people. The city of Jamestown is an administrative center, followed closely by the English governor. Economic issues the local government has the right to decide independently, but the political and military island must be solved jointly with Great Britain.
But still the main attraction is nature. Some species of plants can be seen only here, among them there are many endangered species. On the coast you can observe a huge number of birds, among them not only the inhabitants of the island, but also birds that fly to winter from European countries. Also on the coast you can find places where sea turtles bury their eggs.
