Socialization of the individual is a successful introduction to society

The problems of socialization of the individual from the point of view of science are among the basic. Understanding the essence of phenomena, the system of interaction of people in society is impossible without an accurate assessment and understanding of the motivations of the actions of each individual. In this regard, the socialization of the individual is the basis, the understanding of which leads to an understanding of the life of the whole society or a certain group.

Science, which studies society and the behavior of the individual in it, seeks to answer various questions, presenting the personality in the existing variety of social ties. Thus, when researching a person within the framework of existing social ties, one should answer questions about the development of the person in the environment, the position he takes, his involvement in a particular group, and about the perception of certain cultural norms and deviation from them.

As you know, a newborn enters the world as a biological organism. The main task of the baby is its physical comfort. After a while, the child develops a set of values and attitudes that contain antipathy and sympathy, intentions, goals, responsibilities and patterns of behavior. Together with this, each person is endowed with his own unique vision of the surrounding world. Such a state is achieved by society. Socialization is the process by which an individual assimilates the norms of the group within which it is located. At the same time, the assimilation of information is carried out in such a way that the person's own "I" is a means of manifesting a person in the course of assimilation of social norms, rules of behavior, values that are necessary for a person to succeed in the society.

Socialization of the individual is a phenomenon that encompasses all spheres through which involvement in culture, upbringing and education is carried out. Through these spheres, a person acquires a social nature and develops the ability to take part in public life. Socialization of the individual is a phenomenon in which people surrounding the individual participate: neighbors, family, peers at school and so on.

Successful involvement in society is possible, according to Smelser, under the influence of three factors: changes in behavior, expectations, aspiration to meet expectations. Socialization of personality is in this case a phenomenon that includes three stages:

  1. The stage at which children imitate adults and copy their behavior.
  2. The game stage. At this stage, children become aware of the behavior as a role.
  3. Stage role-playing games. At this stage, the children begin to understand what the group expects from them.

Freud was one of the first to determine the components of the socialization of children. According to his theory, the personality consists of three components. The first is id. It is a source of energy that is stimulated by the desire for pleasure. The second element is the "ego". This component carries out moral control of personality, based on the principle of reality. The third component, the moral appraisal, is the "superego".

According to Freud, socialization is the process of unfolding human innate properties. As a result, the above three components become established and strengthened.

Piaget, the French psychologist, taking into account the idea of the existence of different stages in the formation of personality, pays special attention to the development of cognitive individual structures, as well as their subsequent changes in accordance with experience and social interaction.

According to many psychologists and sociologists, the process of socialization is carried out by a person throughout his life. Along with this, many authors argue that the introduction to society in children and adults has significant differences.
